Try This: Hair Rules Blow-Out Stylers

Hair Rules creator and kinky hair stylist extraordinaire Dickey finally has products for us girls that like to wear our hair straight! (No offense to you natural gals out there, but much like my good friend Tasha Turner says, I prefer my hair "fried, dyed and laid to the side" meaning that heat stylers are my best friend hahaha)
So, for those that aren't familiar with Dickey and Hair Rules, here's a quick rundown: he's a hairstylist (obvs!) that specializes in styling curly, kinky, wavy hair. He even has his own product line (click here to check 'em out!) but what most people don't know is that he can blow your hair out just as beautifully as he can style those curls. I mean, just check out my girl Elaine from EBONY Magazine's mane below. Yes, he straightened out all that mass of curl on her head..gorge, right?!

On a particularly rainy evening, I hustled over to Dickey's Hair Rules Salon to hear all about this new heat styling greatness he concocted. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary blow-out with the new product (um, the hairstylists there have magic fingers) but I also loved running into Estelle on my way in. (She goes there all the time, you know.)
Alright, so on to the products: there's the Blow Out Your Kinks; Blow Out Your Curls and Blow Out Your Waves.

Blow Out Your Kinks
Because kinky hair is extremely fragile, Dickey made sure to come up with a gentle mix that contains Hawaiin White Ginger and scalp-soothing hops. The best part of this stuff is that it also contains a new macromolecule called Styleze W which latches onto the hair surface to help fight high levels of humidity.
"A lot of women with kinky hair complain that their hair lacks shine and looks dull, but it's completely possible to get beautiful luster and sheen if it's healthy," Dickey said.

Blow Out Your Curls
Dickey explains that "flattening the cuticle is key to achieving straight strands" regardless of whether you have fine, medium, or coarse curls. This product contains extracts of coconut oil, Abyssinia oil, jojoba oil and shea butter to help seal the cuticle's surface while increasing gloss and manageability.

Blow Out Your Waves
Wavy hair is the easiest to straighten due to its flattened cuticle, but Dickey said that he's found that women with wavy hair still search far and wide to find the right straightening products. Much like the ingredient mix found in Blow Out Your Curls, this product also contains lemongrass and hydrolyzed wheat protein to repair and strengthen fragile hair for an additional layer of protection against the heat of blow dryers and flat irons.

Each retails for $20 ($9.50 for 2 oz sizes) and is available for purchase at ULTA.com and hairrules.com.

MAGAZINE GLAM: Idris Gets Sexy for Ebony Magazine PLUS Kelis' Gorgeous JET Cover

Is it me or are summer covers always the sexiest?

Ebony Magazine's latest issue is sweltering hot featuring our good friend, Idris Elba, on the cover. The sexy actor and DJ rocks a white shirt and a fedora, peeking up at the camera that sexy way he knows how. I can almost feel the heat rising off the page!

The cover so reminds me of our change meeting in New OrleansI would love to walk out barefoot on a porch down South bringing some ice-cold lemonade to that man...lol...but I digress...

He's promoting his new film, Takers, which he stars in with T.I., Chris Brown, Michael Ealy and a host of other folks. All that fineness in one film is not to be missed!

Kelis is just as hot on this month's cover of Jet in a form-fitting gold dress and slit that shows off her gorgeous gams. Inside the issue, she talks about religion, rearing her son and rising above the drama of her divorce. (Sidenote: Is everyone getting cheated on and then divorcing these days? See Sandra Bullock and Christina Milian.)

She also calls her new album, Flesh Tone, honest...I can't wait to hear how she pours all those emotions into music.

What do you think of the covers?

MAGAZINE GLAM: A Pregnant Paula Patton for Ebony, Jill Scott's Son in ESSENCE

Motherhood has never been more glamorous, from a radiant Paula Patton on the cover of Ebony Magazine to glowing new Mom, Jill Scott, on the cover of ESSENCE.

Paula Patton appears on two Ebony covers, embodying the May issue's theme, The Power of Possibility. On one, she bares her beautiful pregnant tummy in an earthy, ethereal pose replete with Grecian-inspired draped chiffon and florals. The second finds her in a ruched dress and floral necklace, softly holding her tummy. Simply gorgeous. Patton and her husband, ubertalented crooner, Robin Thicke, recently welcomed their first son, Baby Julian. Congrats!

On the cover of ESSENCE, a smiling Jill Scott emits a natural, resplendent glow in all-white. Framed by her free, curly 'fro, Jill Scott has never looked more radiant and beautiful (though Page Six reports Jill hates the cover!).

Inside, we get our first peek at her adorable son, Jett. Love it!

Magazine Glam: Sade covers EBONY Magazine

Hey Glamazons! You all know about my unhealthy obsession with Sade. I was beyond excited when I heard the news about her latest album, Soldier of Love, and I near 'bout had a heart attack when I heard news that the singing siren would be on the cover of the April 2010 issue of EBONY magazine. Oh, be still thine heart! In the issue, Sade addresses her 10 year hiatus and even lets the mag peep into her studio time. Sigh, I would die to be by her side while she's singing.
Issue hits stands March 9th, so be sure to cop that!
