GLAM SLAM: Michelle Obama in a Rachel Roy Sheath at the State of the Union Address
The FLOTUS showed us all she could give high-fashion glamour in her Alexander McQueen resort look from the China State Dinner. And just as effortlessly, Michelle Obama can revert back to the look she made a closet classic: the sheath dress. (Raise your hand if her signature sheath is now a mainstay in your work wardrobe. Yeah, I can't be the only one!)
For the State of the Union address tonight, Michelle reminded us why we all love her sheath dresses. She wore a putty-colored, quarter-sleeved sheath by Rachel Roy that was clean, streamlined and chic.
I have to say, I just love the attention Michelle pays to the fashion world; minimalism is a major trend for the Spring 2011 season, and she's ahead of the curve.
Truly a class act, she always goes for style and sophistication during the State of the Union Address (she wore a plum Isaac Mizrahi dress with pearls last January) and I love her for it.
Proving that less is more, Michelle completed her look with a head of full, shiny hair, stacked lucite bangles, silver drop earrings and clean, natural-looking makeup.
What did you think of her dress?

GLAM SLAM: Michelle Obama in Alexander McQueen at the 2011 China State Dinner
When trying to encourage us in dance class, my instructor used to ask for 'goosebumps' where our moves were so flawless and beautiful, they gave him chills. If there was a fashion equivalent, Michelle Obama in red Alexander McQueen would be it.
Designed by Sarah Burton, the floor-length red-petal print silk organza dress from the Resort 2011 collection is stunning enough on its own. The deep red hue and full skirted bottom brings drama, which is in turn tempered by the romantic red-petal print. Perfection.
Add to that the breathlessly beautiful Michelle Obama with her perfect arms (highlighted by the off-shoulder neckline), her radiant skin and her elegant updo (that shows off her gorgeously long neck)...and you have one of the first great red carpet moments of 2011!
As always, Mrs. Obama's regal looks are as glamorous as they are smart. The red symbolizes 'Good Luck' in Chinese culture. The perfect dress in which to attend the China State Dinner, wouldn't you say?
What did you think of Michelle Obama's brilliant fashion moment? Obvs, I think it's a total Glam Slam!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Michelle Obama in Rachel Roy Floor-Length Velvet Skirt at State Dinner in India
Michelle Obama is an icon not only for her chic wardrobe, but for the intelligent point-of-view she brings to Fashion. Not only does she acknowledge trends in the market, she chooses designers that have cultural relevance to the countries she's visiting. Such was the case at the State Dinner in India.
Michelle Obama visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, or President's Palace, in New Delhi wearing an Indian-American designer, Rachel Roy. She wore both the "Dune velvet" skirt and "Sable Moroccan tunic" from Rachel Roy's Fall 2010 collection.
The long hemline only further accentuated Michelle Obama's tall and slim physique. What I loved most, though, was the combination of velvet and metallic; it's one of my favorite looks this season. The luxurious velvet texture mixed with a shiny metallic color just radiates elegance.
Rachel Roy's Fall collection was just that: a testament to Moroccan opulence played out in refined, streamlined silhouettes and plenty of sparkle and shine. Michelle Obama is the perfect muse for such a collection, don't you think?
Here, she paired the skirt and tunic with an embroidered belt for an extra sparkly flair. What do you think of her look?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Michelle Obama Mixes Floral Print and Watercolor
Michelle Obama gets the Glamazon seal of approval just for studying and embracing current fashion trends. The ever-stylish First Lady followed up her lace, leopard and polka dot look with another mixed print outfit; this time, she wears a floral top and watercolor skirt.
I LOVE this look! I've seen the mixed print look mostly in an edgy, trendy, youthful vibe; Michelle's version looks modern and refined. She brings a posh, polished air to it.
Though the prints could be seen as busy, both patterns are in the same color family---the golden rule when rocking mixed prints. The silhouette looks great on her, playing up her womanly figure.
And work those teal heels Mrs. Obama. I say GLAM!
What say you, Glamazons? Is this moment chic and GLAM or a busy SHAM?
Discuss.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Michelle Obama Mixes Leopard, Lace and Dots
First Lady Michelle Obama has always been lauded for her love of fashion trends, so her mixed prints didn't startle me. It's the choice of pattern and material that I found exciting: lace, leopard print, dots?
Her silhouette, from the A-line skirt to the belted waist, remains the same but the leopard and lace mix is a new, fresh direction for Mrs. Obama.
Do we love her look? Is it appropriate for a White House function (she was attending the White House Dance series)? Does she pull it off? Discuss.
Are Michelle Obama's mixed prints Glam or Sham?
