Alexander McQueen

In Honor Of Alexander McQueen
My Favorites Of His Designs From 2001-2010

pictures from style.com

Alexander McQueen will be forever missed, and not only by his family and friends, but by the many people who have and are inspired by his designs. His take on fashion was amazing and beyond words. None of his runway shows were ever normal or boring. His designs really were art and completely originals. There are no other designs like McQueens. I recommend going to style.com on looking at the pictures from his runway shows throughout the years. They are absolutely amazing. Above are some of my favorites from 2001-2010, but you really should go look at them for yourself. There was so much creativity in every design he made.

Sunshine!!!

Moschino Cheap & Chic Resort 2010
pictures from style.com
The Moschino Cheap & Chic Resort 2010 collection is far from the winter blues. With bright hues, bold floral prints, flowy tops, tights, and cute shoes, the collection was a ray of sunshine. I've had somewhat of a bad day, but when I saw this collection on style.com it immediately made me feel a little bit cheerier. I know that sounds strange, but thats just what florals and bright colors do to me. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but the clothes just give off happy. I can't wait to try and copy one of these looks. I love the flowy black floral shirt with black tights and a pop of color with the hot pink handbag. I'm hoping I'll find something similar because its such a fun and stunning outfit.

Luella

Designer Spotlight: Luella
Luella Spring 2010 RTW

pictures rom style.com

I have to say that this collection is one of my favorites of all time. It was cute and adorable without being to childish. I'm a huge fan of headbands and bows, and I love using solids and adding pops of color with accessories or one of the pieces of the outfit. The Luella Spring 2010 RTW collection does just that. There were lots of big bows in the hair, cute and bold handbags, pastels, florals, polka dots, and my absolute favorite from the collection, the heart cut out dress. I also love how so many of these designs aren't so out there that they can't be copied or used as realistic inspiration. I've been looking online for black on white polka dot shorts for a long time and I can't seem to find any. I love them in this line, so if any of you know were I can find some I'd love to know :)

Project Runway Recap Episode 3

My Favorite: Maya's design
Amy's design
Winning Design: Mila's design
On this weeks episode of project runway, the designers were put into pairs. They got to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and be inspired by the famous and truly artistic fashion designs there. Some excelled and their creativity and talent showed while others missed the mark. In the end Mila's design (and her teammate) won and Ping went home, though her teammate stayed. Ping was the leader of her team and so she held the most responsibility. Mila's design was definitely interesting and eye catching but I didn't like it that much. The designs I really liked were Maya and Amy's designs. They were artistic, chic, stylish, and truly looked like something you'd see on style.com on the runway. I'm hoping next week they'll be even more beautiful designs.

Masquerade on the Runway

Jean Paul Gaultier fall 2009 RTWPicture from style.com
So last night I went to see the Phantom of the Opera Broadway show!!! Its my absolute favorite musical ever. I've read the book like 3 times, seen the movie, and listened to the soundtrack like a million times. I've even learned a couple of the songs on the piano. I was so exited when I finally got to see it live, and it was absolutely amazing. The music, the actors, the set, and of course the fashion, were all exquisite. The costumes were so interesting. Lots of sparkle and huge dresses with lots of ruffles. Also, you can't forget the famous Phantom of the Opera himself with his mask. I've been inspired, and I found this picture from one of Jean Paul Gaultier's collections. His fall 2009 RTW collection used a lot of masks. It reminded me of the play because of the darkness to the clothes, the use of lots of black, and the occasional model holding a rose. I loved it!!!

Vogue Paris

I absolutely love the Christian Dior Couture Paris Couture Haute Couture A/H 09-10!!!! I was on Vogue France's website and fell in love with this collection. These are some of my favorite pieces from it. I'm feeling really inspired by the 1920's and Paris lately...probably because I just did a project on it and I'm reading a biography on Coco Chanel. To me, this collection feels very 1920's inspired and I also love the sheerness and the guarders... if thats how you spell it...lol....its very chic and feminine. Some of the pieces in his collection look almost unfinished...like they did sew it all the way or left something open...its very interesting and I'm really inspired by it right now. There's been a lot of use of sheer fabrics on the runway lately and I'm totally excited about this trend!!! All these pictures are from the Vogue Paris website....check it out and see what you think!

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear

The color is striking. It's definitely a show stopper.
The Capri with an oversized jacket are very cute together. The belt and the hat make it all coincide.
I love the pop of red with the blue. Two contrasting colors used in unison.
This is my favorite of the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear collection. I especially love the bottom part of the dress. Its fun and feminine.
