What Are Your 3 Makeup Must-Haves?

I know that I'm not the only woman in America this happens to, but it happened to me the other day and I was so stricken with grief that I felt it only necessary to share. I don't really have a pic from that night, but I do have this one that was taken at a fashion event that I attended not too long ago wearing no makeup...just to give you an idea of what I may have looked like. Side note: Isn't that graphic wall amazing?! But, let me rewind and begin my story from the beginning so you'll know what the heck I'm talking about.
It was one particularly uneventful day that I finished a full day of work (yay for day jobs!) when a friend asked me to come out for a drink. Maybe it's because I'm so used to hanging out in the fashion realm (i.e. parties/cocktail hours full of gay men, nothing against them but there they are!) so I wasn't really thinking that I needed to look that great. Plus I'd somehow managed to leave my makeup bag at home (I know, serious fail!) but I wasn't expecting that I'd need to do any touch-ups or anything.
I mean, I wasn't looking extremely busted or anything. I just feel like when I'm showing good face I need to have on my three key makeup items or at least be able to touch them up before heading out.
And there I go out without having re-freshened my makeup to a cocktail hour full of straight men. Dear God, why?! Of course, you know I made the most out of the situation (at least I found a lipgloss at the bottom of my bag) but it would have been so much better if I'd had my makeup bag with these three key items.
Here they are (in no particular order):

#1. MAC Mineralize SPF Foundation in NC35
#2. Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Caviar
#3. Urban Decay Cream Highlight in Sin

Foundation, eye liner and cream highlighter. That's it! All I need to prettify myself. Side note: I don't have any lipgloss listed because all of my bags contain them somewhere in a pocket or at the bottom so I'm never without color on my lips.
And I didn't tell you all of this for you to just sit on your haunches and not tell me yours. List your top makeup must-haves below in the comments section below! It's a requirement that us Glamazons exchange beauty notes while we sit around stuffed from all that food we ate on Thanksgiving day.....ugh....

Shop Estee Lauder, Fergie Shoes and More for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here! Now is as good a time as any to donate to breast cancer research and spread awareness.

But don't let it stop once October ends. For many women and their families, breast cancer is a year-round reality. In the past two years, breast cancer has affected my life; my aunt passed away from breast cancer last year, and another treasured family member is currently fighting it.

I miss my Aunt dearly, and am helping my family member through her own battle, but I don't at all feel defeated or discouraged.

Everyday, scientists are coming up with ways to combat the disease including a breathalyzer that will soon be used to detect cancerous cells. And by going for routine checkups, I can personally do my part to prevent it and get early detection should I be diagnosed. And I encourage every woman to do the same!

That's not all. You can indulge in some guilt-free beauty, clothing and shoe-shopping, where proceeds are donated to breast cancer research.

Fergie is selling a hot pink pump (the Hope shoe) from her line, Fergie Shoes, during QVC’s “FFANY Shoes on Sale” event on October 15th. She'll sell the adorable pump for half the price, with 100% of the proceeds going to breast cancer research! Love it. Watch QVC on Friday, October 15th to shop the shoes from 7PM to 10PM.

In the meantime, you can shop these fab finds to donate to breast cancer research. From Essie nail polish to Bobbi Brown eyeshadow to Lily Pulitzer scarves, the proceeds are going to a good cause. See, good for your closet and your conscience!

Bobbi Brown Launches New Book 'Beauty Rules' (and Matching Makeup Palette!) For Young Girls + Chat With Her About It On Twitter Today!

Hey Glamazons! Boy, have I got some exciting news for you beauty gals! Not only is makeup artist extraordinaire Bobbi Brown launching a new book called Beauty Rules, but she's also holding a live Q&A today on Twitter between noon and 1 p.m. to talk about it and any other beauty related questions you may have. Just follow @AskBobbiBrown and tweet your beauty questions. Be sure to add #beautyrules at the end of your tweets so she'll know to answer you back. (And please do tell her The Glamazons sent you! hahaha)
Now, I know Beauty Rules ($24.95) was created for the teenage girls, but it's chock full of fab beauty tips that I'm pretty sure will work for women that are still in their 20's as well. (The 30's and above maybe not so much.) Why even bother writing a book specifically targeted towards a bunch of little girls when it seems that mostly grown women use your makeup anyways?! Well, luckily Bobbi was smart enough to round up a gaggle of us beauty bloggers to explain everything. (That's her above explaining everything to us.)
It turns out that about 10 years ago, Bobbi launched her first beauty book called Teenage Beauty so it only makes sense that she publish an all new beauty bible for them...especially since there are so many new things out there (hello Facebook!) as well as many new pressures for young girls when it comes to trying to maintain your prettiness (I mean, you've seen the movie Mean Girls, right?!)
Cutely clad in a classic black sweater, black skirt and her iconic glasses, Bobbi told us that growing up she always felt "too short, too different and much too brunette" and the only female idol she had was Barbie. "And Barbie is not the correct idol for little girls," she told us.
Bobbi then began to experiment with makeup and voila! The beginnings of a makeup maven were made. Now, she isn't telling young girls to go out there and put on a ton of makeup and comb their hair certain ways. This book is all about empowerment and she offers great ideas on how to get fresh, healthy skin, pretty hair and makeup. (See! This is why it still works for us young adults, too!)
While some of her makeup tip scenarios aren't really realistic for older women (i.e. how to take a great yearbook photo) there are some that are such as nailing job interviews. Bobbi reached out to actress Hilary Duff to write the foreward to the book (one young lady who didn't turn into a train wreck like Lindsay Lohan despite growing up in the limelight). She also features pictures and tips from other high-profile beauties such as model Coco Rocha and singer Kat DeLuna (who has the cutest little freckles all over her face!)
And (here's the best part!): she even created a cute little limited edition 'Beauty Rules' makeup palette ($45) that contains everything a girl (or woman such as myself) would need for on-the-go touch up. It has four eyeshadows, two Pot Rouge's, 2 lip glosses, a glitter lip balm and even a mini Creamy Eye Pencil in Jet.

Hope you guys have fun tweeting with Bobbi (she is pretty funny!) and let us know how it goes. Also, be sure to check out Beauty Rules the book and makeup palette and let us know what you think of it!

GET THE LOOK: Rosario Dawson at the Met Costume Institute Gala

I'm convinced that there's some type of magical particles in Rosario Dawson's skin that equates to her magical glow. (Or maybe, like most celebrities, she just has an awesome facialist/dermatologist/$2,000 face creams.) Whatever it is, she looks great and her makeup at the Met gala did her natural beauty some serious justice. Makeup artist Troy Surratt (for Bobbi Brown) gives us the scoop on how he created the look:

Troy Surratt first used Face Touch Up Stick in Warm Natural (4.5) to even out the eye and nose area.

Next, he applied
Moisturizing Cream Compact in Honey (5) with a sponge and set it with powder for a flawless complexion.

To warm up Rosario’s skin, Troy dusted
Medium Bronzing Powder on her the areas where the sun would naturally hit the face.

Troy Tip: “When wearing your hair up and using bronzer, be sure to apply a bit of bronzer to the ear lobes. Pale ears are a telltale sign that you fudged your tan.”

For a light, reflective glow, Troy brushed
Shimmer Blush in Bahamas Brown on the apples of Rosario’s cheeks before lightly applying Creamy Lip Color in Raisin Berryon her lips.

To make her eyes really stand out, Troy used his finger to apply and blend
Tinted Eye Brightener in Medium to Dark Bisque under her eyes for additional brightness.

Finally, Troy groomed Rosario’s lashes and brows with
Clear Natural Brow Shaperfor a polished look.

Bobbi Brown 'Brightens Up' Her Skincare Line

An ever growing trend among beauty brands? Why brighteners of course! While us silly Americans wile the days away in tanning beds or on beaches trying to get darker (despite the warnings of skin cancer smh), people elsewhere in the world (such as Asia) are busy lightening up; and beauty maven Bobbi Brown has taken notice. She's launched a 5-step skincare regime that "brightens, hydrates, protects" as well as "covers and corrects dark spots and skin discoloration with a double action-treatment makeup corrector," according to a recent post on stylelist.com. The line includes a Brightening Hydrating Lotion, Brightening Intensive Serum, Brightening Moisture Cream, SPF 50 UV Protective Face Base and Brightening Spot Treatment Corrector SPF 25. Products range in price from $35-$95 and available for purchase at BobbiBrown.com as well as major department stores.
