GET THE LOOK: Blake Lively at the Met Costume Institute Gala

I may not be able to get the glamorous, evenly tanned skin that she debuted on the red carpet at the Met gala, but I'm definitely stealing this makeup look for myself! So pretty. Here are the NARS products makeup artist Elaine Offers used:

-PRO-PRIME Skin Smoothing Face Prep
-Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
-Goddess Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
-Beverly Hills Multiple Tint
-Love Devotion Lipstick

GET THE LOOK: Rosario Dawson at the Met Costume Institute Gala

I'm convinced that there's some type of magical particles in Rosario Dawson's skin that equates to her magical glow. (Or maybe, like most celebrities, she just has an awesome facialist/dermatologist/$2,000 face creams.) Whatever it is, she looks great and her makeup at the Met gala did her natural beauty some serious justice. Makeup artist Troy Surratt (for Bobbi Brown) gives us the scoop on how he created the look:

Troy Surratt first used Face Touch Up Stick in Warm Natural (4.5) to even out the eye and nose area.

Next, he applied
Moisturizing Cream Compact in Honey (5) with a sponge and set it with powder for a flawless complexion.

To warm up Rosario’s skin, Troy dusted
Medium Bronzing Powder on her the areas where the sun would naturally hit the face.

Troy Tip: “When wearing your hair up and using bronzer, be sure to apply a bit of bronzer to the ear lobes. Pale ears are a telltale sign that you fudged your tan.”

For a light, reflective glow, Troy brushed
Shimmer Blush in Bahamas Brown on the apples of Rosario’s cheeks before lightly applying Creamy Lip Color in Raisin Berryon her lips.

To make her eyes really stand out, Troy used his finger to apply and blend
Tinted Eye Brightener in Medium to Dark Bisque under her eyes for additional brightness.

Finally, Troy groomed Rosario’s lashes and brows with
Clear Natural Brow Shaperfor a polished look.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Cassie Wears Versace to MET Gala and Laquan Smith to the Afterparty

No matter your opinion of Cassie, there's one thing you can't deny. She is beautiful.

The self-proclaimed pioneer of the shaved head craze showed up to the MET Gala in a Versace stunner. The skin-tight blue dress boasted an artful cutout neckline and a dangerously high slit. She paired the look with black stilettos and striking diamond jewelry.

I think the funky neckline of the dress compliments Cassie's equally funky hairstyle (a shaved head AND color? a bit much). It was a fitting choice as I was worried about how her hair would translate at a formal, red-carpet event.

Her afterparty ensemble was designed by a Glamazon favorite, Laquan Smith. Cassie wore his sparkling, metallic minidress which matched her caramel-hued locks perfectly. She kept her black clutch but went for the gold in some metallic pointy toe pumps.

Here's the dress on Glamazon favorite, Sessilee Lopez from Laquan Smith's Fall 2010 lookbook.

What do you think of Cassie's looks, Glamazons? Glam or a Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Lady Gaga in a Prada Tux and Gray Hair at the Met Costume Institute Gala

If you follow The Glamazons on Twitter, you know I was standing in pain in 5-inch heels waiting for Lady Gaga to hit the red carpet. And you also know, she never appeared.

Well, leave it to our glamazing friends at The Cut Blog to discover Gaga's whereabouts. It turns out she was busy preparing for her performance (which I didn't get to see as I didn't get an invite to the dinner. Sigh, next year!) and couldn't bless us with a look at her ensemble before the event.

But alas, Prada has released a photo of the fashionista at the MET Gala dinner. An oversized tuxedo and long gray hair complete the look. She's giving me old witch. Weird, yes, but sort of tame for Gaga.

Especially since tuxedos were a theme throughout the event. (See Liya Kebede in tuxedo pants by Rachel Roy and Zoe's Alexander Wang for Gap tuxedo look below).

Even Rihanna's suit-inspired look from last year's gala caused more of a stir. What do you think, Glamazons? A nice, seemingly "normal" change for Gaga, or underwhelming?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Gisele Bundchen in an Alexander Wang Minidress at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Okay. Let's be honest. Anything Gisele Bundchen wears is going to look exquisite. She has the perfect body even post-baby.

And Alexander Wang, the mind behind her sexy minidress, is one of the most talented young designers in the business.

But why come to the MET Gala in a less-than-festive dress? If you ask me, this was suitable afterparty material.

Between the fringe detail and super high hemline (I mean, it could have been a long shirt), it seems a bit out-of-place at the ball...especially next to, let's say, JLo's Cinderella gown.

They are one handsome couple though. (Her husband, New England Patriots' quarterback, Tom Brady, wore Tom Ford. Naturally).

What do you think of Gisele's dress, Glamazons? Glam or Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kerry Washington's Red-Hot Thakoon for Gap Dress at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Kerry Washington wowed us last night at the Met Gala in her vibrant red dress by Thakoon for Gap.

It was nice to see a pop of color among the fashions that were largely metallic (Sarah Jessica Parker, JLo, Chanel Iman), white/neutral (Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson) or black (Naomi Campbell, Giselle Bundchen, Iman). P.S. Red-carpet fashions are totally having a black moment, but more on that later.

Color was only one of the reasons I loved Kerry Washington's dress. It accented her body better than any dress I've ever seen on her. The flattering techniques used here are just genius.

Thakoon Panichgul blended draping and corset to create the sexiest dress that appeared on the red carpet last night! And the fact that he designed it for Gap, makes it even more phenomenal.

Kerry paired her hot dress with gold accessories, sleek hair and diamond studs.

What do you think, Glamazons? Do you love the look? Glam or Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: M.I.A. and Zoe Kravitz in Alexander Wang for Gap at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Of all the celebrity muses at last night's MET Gala, I was most excited to see M.I.A. For one, she was dressed by one of my favorite designers, Alexander Wang (for Gap). But more importantly, she's M.I.A. The same funky, free-spirited artist who wore a sheer, polka dot top during her performance at The Grammy's---while she was nine months pregnant.

So I was super curious to see how Alexander Wang and M.I.A.'s creative point-of-views would blend. The result? Hmm...I'll let you decide.

I think the design is exquisite, but I would have preferred to see an explosion of color on M.I.A.---or something, anything, that hinted at M.I.A.'s exuberant, youthful style.

On the other hand, Zoe Kravitz was perfect. Who's better than one of the most beautiful actresses (blame it on those glamazing Lenny Kravitz/Lisa Bonet genes) to display the menswear trend?

Her tuxedo look was clean, sophisticated and chic. And I love the juxtaposition of the feminine bangs and supersexy red lips. (I'm slightly biased. I met her at the afterparty and she's so sweet!)

What do we think of M.I.A. and Zoe's looks, Glamazons? Glam or a Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Katy Perry's Flashing Lights at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Katy Perry lit up the MET Gala red carpet last night...literally. Her dress, designed by Cute Circuits, was a pile of chiffon and flashing lights...of the Vegas strip kind.

It was spectacle as only Katy Perry (or a red-carpet skipping Lady Gaga) can deliver and certainly energized a rather safe parade of fashions this year. Because if there was one thing the MET Gala red carpet was lacking this time around, it was adventure.

I would never, I repeat never, wear a dress like this because besides the fact that well, it's a pile of Christmas lights, it has to be a safety hazard. Like, what if you get wet in it? That's got to be dangerous.

Still, I found it exciting, fantastical and fun. And it was even cooler on the dance floor.

What do you think, Glamazons? Cool and creative? Or just plain crazy?

Kisses,

Coutura

GLAM OR SHAM?: Chanel Iman in Michael Kors at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Days ago, Chanel Iman tweeted that she'd be wearing Michael Kors to the MET Gala and she made good on her promise.

The stunning Supermodel dazzled in a gold shimmery one-piece. She paired it with sleek spiral curls and gold/black accessories. Not many women could pull this off but Chanel makes it look glamorous, in my opinion.

She was also one of the few women (including Zoe Kravitz and Liya Kebede) who wore pants to the gala. I'm sure the pants came in handy when she tore up the dance floor at the afterparty with boyfriend in tow (below).

What do we think of her look, Glamazons? Glam or a Sham?

GET THE LOOK: Zoe Saldana and Mila Kunis at the MET Costume Institute Gala

I normally hate wearing my hair pulled back because it always looks so boring to me. However, when I see pictures like these of Zoe Saldana and Mila Kunis, it makes me want to try again! Luckily, I was able to snag these fab how-to tips from TRESemme Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak on how she created the look:

Zoe Saldana
1. Apply TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray on damp hair and blow dry with a a medium round brush until smooth
2. To give hair a lot of shine (to almost resemble wet hair) apply
TRESemmé No-Frizz Shine Spray andTRESemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème all over the hair
3. Once hair is coated, pull hair back at the nape of the neck, slicking the sides back tightly and keeping a little height at the top. Secure at the nape of the neck with an elastic
4. Spray ends with
TRESemmé TRES TWO Hairspray, turn ends under to form a half bun shape, and pin underneath to hide pins, criss-crossing bobby pins for extra security
5. Finally, spray hairspray on fingertips and gently pull the hair on top to give it a slightly textured look. Finish entire look with hairspray for an all-night hold

Mila Kunis
1. Apply TRESemmé Naturals Finishing Spray to dry hair and rough dry, enhancing the natural texture
2. Curl random pieces of hair around the face and throughout the head
3. Apply a dab of
TRESemmé Fresh Start No-Frizz Crème to palms of hands and run through hair. Then, loosely grab three sections of hair, starting at the crown and start a french braid
4. Get about half way down the head and secure with bobby pins, leaving out the bottom section of hair
5. Pin up all the hair into a messy bun, criss-crossing the pins, and finish with
TRESemmé TRES TWO Hairspray

GET THE LOOK: Jennifer Lopez at the Met Costume Institute Gala

While I personally wasn't a fan of Jennifer Lopez's recent beehive bun updo, I'm a huge proponent for the hairstyle she rocked last night! These sexy, tousled tresses give me LIFE!
Created by hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon (i.e. one of my favorite places on earth!) he described the look as "coquettish, young and effortless." I call it hot.
Here's some tips he gave on you can create the look at home:

"Roller set her hair in red velcro rollers with volumizing spray making sure not to perfectly engulf her hair into them. Whichever strands were left out were not restricted to become set into the rollers. Fly-aways are a good thing in a modern day swept do. Once released, the hair is pulled back into a very unkempt twist, letting those free strands loose to become part of the modernity of the sweep. Pin into place. It was the complement to the whimsy of the gown to have a very free flowing and undone look to the hair. A slept in updo. Sexy yet determined. Barex, Volumizante spray as a prep and then a bit of Ellenette hair spray as a finish."

GLAM OR SHAM?: Janet Jackson's HighTower Hair at the Met Gala

I just loved seeing these pics of Janet Jackson on the red carpet at last night's Met Gala! Completely out of the norm, she surprised everyone by ditching the usual look of wearing her hair down and opted instead for this sweeping updo. It looks like a softer, prettier version of the beehive bun updo Jennifer Lopez rocked recently at a red carpet premiere.

What do you think, Glamazons? Is Janet's hair GLAM or SHAM?

A Day in the Life: Coutura Attends the Met Costume Institute Gala...and Parties with Oprah and Anna Wintour!

Adrianna Papell dress. Colette Malouf hairpiece.
Last night was the most fun I've had all year. And not because I walked the red carpet beside some of the hottest celebs in the biz. And not because I saw some of my favorite designers and their exquisite work up close and personal.

Solely because I, Coutura, danced with Oprah Winfrey and Anna Wintour.

Yup, last night was one for the history books.

It started with me walking into the white tent and onto the red carpet. By the way, the red carpet was actually a set of stairs celebrities walked up while journalists fired questions on the side and photogs snapped shots.

On my way upstairs, I saw Chanel Iman posing in a gold Michael Kors one piece and Iman in Prada with hair by Oscar James and makeup by the amazing Sam Fine. Those are some beautiful girls!

Oh and here's a quick shot I took of Justin Timberlake in William Rast and Jessica Biel in Ralph Lauren later on the red carpet.

As soon as I walked through the entrance, I spotted Gwen Stefani and Desiree Rogers, former White House Social Secretary with her daughter. Gwen Stefani told me she was wearing L.A.M.B. while Desiree and daughter chose Oscar de la Renta.

Here's Desiree Rogers chatting with Diane von Furstenberg.

Once inside, I chatted, more like gushed, over the stunning Kerry Washington in Thakoon for Gap. She is super sweet and silly! She graciously posed for a pic below.

While we spoke, I hear a squeaky voice and turn around to see Sarah Jessica Parker. She is truly as adorable in person as she is onscreen. Her energy is total Carrie from Sex and The City; she's smiling and catching up with everyone from Kerry Washington to Kristin Davis (Charlotte) who runs up to give her a hug.

SJP in Halston Heritage chatting with Kerry Washington.

Mini-Sex and The City Reunion

Carrie and Charlotte!

And when Chris Noth playfully tapped SJP on the butt, I felt like I was trapped in an episode of Sex and the City...willfully, of course.

The Mr. Big stare always gets me. I love him, but umm, rooting for Aidan this sequel. (I totally told him this at the bar at the afterparty LOL)

While they mingled, I spotted Karl Lagerfeld walking in and Glamazons, let me tell you, I stopped breathing. Here's the thing. Celebs, especially fashionable celebs, are fun to meet (most of  the time). But designers? Legendary designers? Like for Chanel, my very favorite brand? I die. I snapped this Paparazzi pic and talked to him for like two seconds before he was whisked away. (I have no idea what I said but something along the lines of...OMG I LOVE your work!)

Fun times! After cocktails, I left for more drinks with friends at a random dive bar (yes, we hung out at a bar in black tie, hilarious) and came back to the Marc Hotel for the afterparty.

As soon as I walked in, I met Donatella Versace. She's an icon but umm...I'll let you guys address this pic.

I spotted Naomi Campbell mingling and dancing up a storm when the party got underway.

Usher Raymond looking dapper as ever.

Chanel Iman + boyfriend breaking it down on the dancefloor.

N.E.R.D. hosted (they played the BEST songs!) while Diddy briefly took over the mic. Love to see Naomi Campbell and Kerry Washington partying it up!

Justin Timberlake even came through and performed a few hits!

And that's when my hair got sweated out! Justin had everyone on the dancefloor...literally, everyone. See the next pic.

No, your eyes are NOT deceiving you. That's Anna Wintour dancing on the floor and yes, she's got moves. Not a hair out of place though. Love it!

Oh and I almost forgot! Oprah Winfrey briefly walked onto the dance floor and who else was jamming by the entrance but moi? We grabbed hands and danced for like two seconds - I totally felt like Oprah was my homegirl. She's so cool!

I LOVE this pic! As I give my feet a rest (gold pumps = killer), Katy Perry plops down next to me. She finally met someone who parties as much as her, teehee. Here's us holding up the wall for a second.

Who knew fashion's most celebrated event would be so much fun? I had a blast! It was like prom with celebs, designers and (much better) fashions. Definitely a night to remember.

Kisses,

Coutura

Met Costume Institute Gala: Gwen Stefani's Vixen Beauty Look

Always fabulous, this may not be a spankin' new beauty look that Gwen Stefani has displayed, but I think it's her ability to stick to what works best that makes her most admirable. The classic red lip, ultra blonde hair and the heavy black eyeliner are her beauty calling card. As the old saying goes, if it aint broke, don't try to fix it!

Met Costume Institute Gala: Gisele and Zoe's Sexy Cat Eyes

Besides their beyond hot bodies (Gisele just had a baby! ugh) and their gorge glowing skin, these ladies most obviously had the sexiest eye makeup of the evening. Smoked out eye shadow strategically smudged at the ends into a perfectly winged tip, super black eyeliner and slicked back tresses exude the perfect amount of edge. Their beauty looks are hands down my faves for the night and a look that I myself would have opted for. Love!

Here's the list of NARS products makeup artist Vera Steimberg used to create the look:
-PRO-PRIME Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
-Turks & Caicos Multiple Tine & Cadacques Multiple Tint [blended]
-D. Gorgeous Eyeshadow
-Aigle Noir Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
-Orgasm Illuminator
-Lara Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment

Met Costume Institute Gala: Oprah's Tousled Curls

I've never really been a fan of Oprah's beauty look in years past, but I feel like as she gets older, it's starting to look better. Tonight she's embracing her wild side with these tousled curls; but keeps it classy with a pretty navy eye and light pink glossy lips. And those brows are beyond beat to perfection! Hands down, a hot co-host look. Hmmm.....I wonder if she'll do another look like this in front of the cameras for her talk show.

Met Costume Institute Gala: SJP's Pretty Waves

OK, it may look like she's channeling her inner Carrie Bradshaw (when does Carrie end and SJP begin?!) but I like it. (Maybe because I'm such a huge Sex And The City fan...I can hardly wait to see the upcoming film!) I could have done without the big side bow, but I loved the soft waves, nude lip and soft smokey eye. So feminine and pretty!
