GLAM OR SHAM?: Heidi Klum's Finger Waves

The beauty blogosphere is all abuzz right now on the topic of Heidi Klum's finger waves in the front/bun in the back hair 'do she rocked Monday night at the amfAR Milano dinner during Milano Fashion Week. Being that I myself am one of the most glamazing beauty editor-turned-bloggers that ever lived (yeah, sometimes it's ok to toot your own horn, Glamazons, because if you don't who will?!) I feel that it's important to bring it up on this blog as well.
Not because it's Heidi Klum (alright, part of the reason is because it's Heidi Klum and I have a total girl crush on her) but more so because I think finger waves are uber glam and love the look! So, I myself vote this look GLAM. I mean, why would you think it's a SHAM?! Not many women can pull off finger waves and Heidi is definitely one who can. Let's take a closer look, shall we? Here's how it looks from the front:

And here's the back:

Upon closer inspection, you can see that it looks as if she's intertwined her hair with some sparkly silver tinsel. I'm wondering if she attended the Prada show while there in Milan? Because you know this same finger waved hair 'do was also created on the models by Redken Creative Consultant Guido (except he created two knots at the back of the head instead of the one that Heidi is rocking). Here's what it looked like:

Believe it or not, there are only two products that you really need to create this look: a rat tail comb (to create the waves) and some super strong holding gel (like the Redken Hardwear 16 Super-Strong Sculpting Gel).
So, what do you think, Glamazons? Is this look GLAM or a SHAM? As a result of seeing this, will you soon be rocking finger waves, too?!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Lady Gaga in a Prada Tux and Gray Hair at the Met Costume Institute Gala

If you follow The Glamazons on Twitter, you know I was standing in pain in 5-inch heels waiting for Lady Gaga to hit the red carpet. And you also know, she never appeared.

Well, leave it to our glamazing friends at The Cut Blog to discover Gaga's whereabouts. It turns out she was busy preparing for her performance (which I didn't get to see as I didn't get an invite to the dinner. Sigh, next year!) and couldn't bless us with a look at her ensemble before the event.

But alas, Prada has released a photo of the fashionista at the MET Gala dinner. An oversized tuxedo and long gray hair complete the look. She's giving me old witch. Weird, yes, but sort of tame for Gaga.

Especially since tuxedos were a theme throughout the event. (See Liya Kebede in tuxedo pants by Rachel Roy and Zoe's Alexander Wang for Gap tuxedo look below).

Even Rihanna's suit-inspired look from last year's gala caused more of a stir. What do you think, Glamazons? A nice, seemingly "normal" change for Gaga, or underwhelming?

Prada Says Butts, Boobs and Hips are In for Fall

Forget Prada's sexy librarian trend. What's really hot this season are breasts, hips and butts...on the runway.

While high fashion has all but ignored a woman's natural curves, opting for the real-life mannequin look, Miuccia Prada has fully embraced our humps in her latest show---and it's about time.

Don't get excited. We're not talking about curves of the Brick House, 36-24-38 kind (sorry, Melissa Ford). But models like Lara Stone, Doutzen Kroes, Catherine McNeil, Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio, and their relative hip, breast and derriere fat, are still a breath of fresh air on the catwalk. Rose Cordero, who covers the new issue of French Vogue, brought some much-needed color to the runway.

The collection, it seems, was structured for a voluptuous woman as well. The A-line skirts and dresses are perfect for women with hips and butt. The raised waists only further highlighted womanly, hourglass silhouettes.

And the breasts. Ruffles and pointy bras enhance the chest area. While models everywhere are cringing, real women are ecstatic about what this means for the future of fashion. Miuccia Prada is a trendsetter and if all goes well, it's only a matter of time before more fashion brands follow suit. Check out the collection below:

Either Miuccia Prada has been hanging out with Beyonce, or the curves phenomenon (seen previously in the V Magazine Size Issue and Vogue Curvy) is really in full swing.

Regardless, I'm happy to see that a little bit of fat is in fashion. (I'm looking proudly at my shape in the mirror as I type this.)

What do you think of Prada putting curves on the runway? Do you think the "trend" will endure?

Magazine Glam: Rihanna for W Magazine, Precious star Gabourey Sidibe for V Magazine's Size Issue

Hey Glamazons!

I'm addicted to huge fashion glossies, among other things. So I'm thrilled to share with you the latest covers of two of my favorite mags, W Magazine and V Magazine.

As much as I love Rihanna, I have to start with V Magazine's Size Issue. With all the buzz surrounding January's V Magazine---and those incredible spreads, the cover has to be just as special, right? Right. With double covers featuring "Precious" star, Gabourey Sidibe (that movie was so touching) and Dakota Fanning (looking very Twiggy-like), the V Magazine editors have successfully relayed the message that every size is beautiful.

I especially love Gabourey's cover. I've never seen her look more gorgeous and glamorous. It really goes to show that beauty has no size limit.

Collect both covers of the magazine - on newsstands NOW! Click here for more info about the covers.

And now for Rihanna, her February 2010 W Magazine cover and spread, shot by Craig McDean and styled by Lori Goldstein, is to-die-for!!! Seriously, the leopard-print Lola hat almost knocked me out cold when I saw the photo on my blackberry.

Wearing Gucci, Prada and Michael Kors in clean black and white shots, Rihanna solidifies her place as a high-fashion favorite. In python coats, leopard print hats and studded fingerless half-gloves, Rihanna continues to venture into bad-girl territory with her fusion of glamor, grit and goth.

I wonder if Anna Wintour feels she missed the boat by allegedly denying Rihanna the American Vogue cover after her nude photos hit the web. Oh well, looking hot is the best revenge, indeed!
