Kim Kardashian Gets Kicked Off Prince's Stage...in Alexander McQueen [Video]
Okay, okay. I know this post is totally about Kim Kardashian's unfortunate Prince moment, but I have to dish: I had another moment of my own yesterday!
I was invited to cover his charity press conference for the site I work for, and got these amaze candy bars with his face on them from Dylan's Candy Bars, and a keepsake book of his Welcome 2 America tour.
Even better? The press was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at his show during soundcheck! Prince came out in a black velvet sweatshirt, white furry boots, skinny jeans and a white hat (so casual chic) and practiced two songs with his phenomenal band. It felt exactly like those behind-the-scenes DVDs (like Michael Jackson's and Beyonce's) but live.
I grew up listening to live music (everyone in my family is a musician) and all of Prince's hits---and never imagined one day I would see Prince perform them in an empty stadium literally steps away from me! It truly was a special moment that I'll never forget!
The awesome concert he was gearing up for took place last night at Madison Square Garden. Cee-Lo opened (how amazing!) and Prince took the MSG stage for the last time during his Welcome 2 America tour in a gold sequined jumpsuit.
While performing, he called folks on the stage to dance and Kim Kardashian was one of his picks. In a fitted Alexander McQueen printed dress, she looked beautiful but when it came time to dance, she froze.
The star tweeted this about her funk faux paux:
LOL - I'm not mad at her for freezing. Like I said, Prince is an icon with a magical presence onstage. At his show, I cried, screamed, danced, even stopped breathing at points so I totally get it. I wouldn't freeze though, I would do the bump until my hip fell off instead.
Oh - it's hilarious that before Kim comes onstage, Prince says she might be too sexy and when she doesn't move, he's over her. LOL, he's the man! Check the video below:
And here's Kim's latest tweet, love that she has a sense of humor about the whole thing!
What do you think of Kim's Prince moment?

A Day in the Life: Prince Concert!! (Coutura's Purple Crush)
As a rule of thumb living here in New York City, always dress to impress (AND for day to night) because you never know when you're innocently getting ready for work on a Tuesday morning where that night will take you.
A somewhat-seasoned New York party girl, I am well aware of this rule and dressed accordingly. A blazer, black leggings, studded boots and sequins for day (my Jimmy Choo for H&M sequined tunic, that like many pieces, Ferocia and I both own LOL).
And thank the fashion gods I did! After working all day, I hit up the Dark & Lovely event announcing Bria Murphy as their newest spokesperson. Gorgeous purple decor, a presentation, THE celeb sighting (the star of the most comedies EVER, Eddie Murphy), speculation on how mom Nicole Murphy has such a tiny waist and soon, we were ready to go to the next spot.
That's when my gay boyfriend chimed in: "Well, I have tickets to the Prince concert. Let's go there!" My response? "Tickets to the hottest concert of LIFE that my friends have been bragging about for weeks?! Yes, let's!"
Before it could even register that I'd be in the same room as the Purple Yoda, aka His Royal Badness, we were hopping in car service to make our way to Madison Square Garden.
Let's backtrack: I've fantasized about meeting Prince before. In my dream, I'm interviewing him for The Glamazons Blog and it's going unbelievably well (Prince is famous for being, well, the opposite of a media whore) until he stops the interview to say that he thinks I'm beautiful and he wrote Adore with a woman like me in mind. Oh and he's abandoning all those Appolonia types for me. And then, he divulges his skincare secrets!! I know, I know, pretty far-fetched but I had to tell so you get the full span of my obsession.
Anyway, fast-forward to last night, we're at Madison Square and everyone's wearing purple, men are in platform heels and women are wearing tons of sequins. Evidence:
Turns out, Prince incorporated all those fashion moments in his look. The Purple one wore a (obvs) purple sequined turtleneck and yoga pants with lucite wedge heels and perfect hair. People joked he looked like Liza Minelli (disrespect) but what's incredible is that a man in sequins and lucite could be so disarmingly hot. Oh and his stage was the ultimate fashion moment. It was shaped like his trademarked glyph, the Prince symbol.
His performance was pure brilliance: a stew of sex, magic, funk and rock & roll. He gave us over two hours of music and two encores (One of the last encores was an all-out party with Jimmy Fallon, Ed Lewis, AJ (106 and Park), Mos Def and more dancing onstage.)
He performed our song, Adore as well as Purple Rain, Controversy, 1999, If I Was Your Girlfriend, U Got The Look, She's Always In My Hair, Rasberry Beret, Scandalous and so much more. His guitar solos were so passionate, powerful and sensual they had us all mesmerized.
His voice was just as hypnotic from his explosive screams to his soft, savory falsetto. And his moves? He danced and danced, shaking his hips and even jumping on his piano. A star for more than thirty years (!), he hasn't lost a bit of his sex appeal or showmanship.
By his side were young, sexy, energetic backup dancers, The Twinz. They wore jumpsuits adorned with sequins and feathers, then sequined lurex leotards and pompadours and finally, bright hot pants and knee-length boots. Prince also surrounded himself with brilliant magicians as Leighton Meester can attest; she was serenaded by Prince and Maceo Parker on the saxophone. So jealous!
Truly, this was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I danced, I cried (during Purple Rain), I partied, I sang, I screamed. The Welcome to America tour took me on a musical, sexual, spiritual adventure that I'll never forget. A must-see!
If you've been to one of Prince's concerts, tell me what you loved most about it! And what's your favorite Prince song? We need a Glamazon Purple moment in honor of last night, LOL.

Glamazons Blog Halloween Contest Winner (Plus Coutura's Willow Smith Costume)
I know Halloween was like soo last week, but Ferocia and I have been super busy with our Glamazon Takeover (more on that later) and I've been chained to my desk sending the magazine I work at to print (as everyone in publishing knows, 'closing time' is not for the faint of heart. You essentially live, sleep and eat in the office as long as it takes to put the issue to bed!).
Still, Halloween is alwaaays a blast in the city thanks to the popular parade in the Village where you might see a Golden shower (a man dressed in a gold unitard), a literal pothead (pot of flowers as a hat), Antoine Dodson (who went around saying 'Obviously there's a rapist in...') and Prince & Janelle Monae (because duh, they're going on tour together!).
I was at the Parade bent over in hysteria over most of these costumes, and I hit a few Halloween parties as well. And yes, I wore two costumes (naturally, since there were two days to party this year since Halloween fell on a Sunday).
On Saturday, I attended the annual, famed Monster's Ball party thrown by Brooklyn Circus (and the requisite house party after) as Willow Smith. Check out my costume below:
And Sunday, I hit the village parade as a racecar driver yet everyone called me Rihanna from the 'Shut up and Drive' video. Sigh.
While dining at Prana Restaurant, a superswank, fab eatery/club in the city you must hit, I met Tiger Woods who had a broken golf club, a black eye and a packet of condoms. Yea, I couldn't make this up.
You guys seemed to have as much fun as I did as tons of you sent in pictures of your Halloween costumes to:
theglamazonsblog@gmail.com.
Thanks for sending! We weren't completely honest with you; we were totally hosting a Glamazon Halloween competition!
And we chose a favorite. The adorable Christina Ford who went as Janelle Monae, one of our favorite Glamazons. How cute is she? For being so glam, Christina is getting a box full of Glamazon-approved beauty products.
Honorable mention goes to Anaijia Wilder, makeup artist and musician who wore a gorgeous East Indian-inspired costume with an equally beautiful makeup look.

Paris Fashion Week: Balmain Channels Prince's Purple Rain
Asking Balmain to get rid of strong shoulders is like telling Burberry to abandon trench coats.
So to no one's surprise, Balmain designer, Christophe Decarnin, sent an army of strong-shouldered models down the runway for the presentation yesterday. The fresh spin? Opulent fabrics that signaled a move toward decadence and luxury.
Channeling Louis XVI and Prince's Purple "Reign," as Style.com so brilliantly pointed out, Decarnin designed a line of brocade prints, fur, metallic lame and fringe that embodies both royalty and revelry.
Unfortunately, however, the silhouettes offered no surprise with strong-shouldered, short dresses almost identical to those shown during previous seasons. The aversion to change won't bother everyone though. There are plenty of revealing dresses and gowns Beyonce and Rihanna will be happy to wear on the red carpet.
And, fittingly, there's quite a few brocade blazers, slim pants and sheer blouses that could outfit Prince, whose hits provided the soundtrack for the runway show.
Check out the collection below. Do you love it?

Fab or Flop: American Music Awards
Luminaries, like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, sparkled in assymetric, metallic minis.
I think Miley stole the show with her black and gold strapless Marchesa dress, which merged the hottest trends of the season, metallic (the shimmery color) and goddess (draping and braided waistline). She was on fire!
Pink cleaned up nicely in a dazzling Vivienne Westwood gown with plenty of beaded embroidery. I loved the hair - the "Rihanna" goes across color lines.
Speaking of which, Princess Rihanna looked darling in a soft yellow ruffled dress by one of her fave designers, Zac Posen, with gloves and jeweled Devi Kroell peeptoe pumps.
One of the big winners of the night, she was just stunning. Never gets it wrong on the red carpet!
P.S. Though...was she channeling Slick Rick in her performance? She always pushes the fashion bar a little bit, which you gotta love.
She's really starting to look like Prince to me...which is a good thing---he's gorgeous, but I'm just saying...
Anyway, you be the judge. Who was fab, and who flopped?
I liked Christina Aguillera's Elie Saab gown (though haven't I seen her in something just like it before?) but her hair looked like a cheap Marilyn Monroe wig. I love her, but feel like something's always off...? And what'd you think of that medley? I was secretly waiting for Come On Over...but I'll get over it. FAB.
The Pussycats got all dolled up in designs from the fiercest bitch of all, Christian Siriano. Though I adored Nicole's dress and the yellow one was sooo chic, the rest was uninspired to me, and looked like I could pick it up at Bebe. Still FAB.
These two are a hot mess. And wasn't that the same Dolce & Gabbana gown Kim from Real Housewives of Atlanta wore to Deshawn's event? For some reason, I think Mariah and Kim would be friends (maybe once her country singing career takes off). Either way, it's a good look for Mariah. FAB.
P.S. Why did she feel the need to bring Nick Cannon onstage? Who does that? You're married, we get it. Do we really need to keep seeing him everywhere? And didn't he make jokes or something on his own? Can we let him get back to that?
Alicia Keys is sweet enough, but the look just wasn't cohesive. With a Grecian, one-shoulder Armani Prive gown, the Indian-inspired silver bindi came out of nowhere. And I don't get the earrings. But she's a natural beauty and shines regardless. Plus I thought her eye make-up, which accented her already exotic eyes, was phenomenal. FAB BY DEFAULT.
I was probably the most surprised by Queen Latifah. She looks tiny (go Jenny)!!! The assymetrical, metallic dress looked beautiful against her skin (as always, she just glows). And though the fit was a bit off, we can forgive that given all the weight she lost. Very glam! And I have to get those hoops once they copy them at Express. FAB.
And what was meaning of this? Why is Toccarra coming out looking like Lil Bo Peep Show?
Definite FLOP.
And let's not forget about the boysss!
Chris Brown looked amazing! I loved the contrast of the preppy bowtie and cardigan with the biker leather jacket. The pairing was edgy, cool and grown up for him. Looks like Rih's fashion sense is rubbing off...FAB.
I can't help but laugh at this picture. All the more reason to praise Chris Brown for making bow ties look cool. FLOP.
Ugh...I don't know what to say, Kanye. I know you wanted to promote your Pastelle line, but didn't you know you were going to an Award show tonight? It's not like you to not try (and that random fur thing you threw on does not count as trying). And to spaz out when you don't get awards and give the one you win away? I'm worried. FLOP.
Yeah and where was Beyonce on the red carpet?! Bey may have been MIA, but Sasha came onstage and killed it! Easily the best performance of the night. And I need a good superlong weave ponytail that flips around and bounces right back. Loove it! SUPERFAB.
I'd love to meet the Queen who came up with the idea for her to hold her weave up, then twirl it and saunter off the stage like Naomi Cambell. I bet he's ferosh.
So what'd you guys think of the fashions? Loved Christian Siriano's doll clothes? Think I'm wrong about Alicia's Indian-inspired bindi? Sound off.
Kisses,
Coutura
