Kim Kardashian Gets Kicked Off Prince's Stage...in Alexander McQueen [Video]

Okay, okay. I know this post is totally about Kim Kardashian's unfortunate Prince moment, but I have to dish: I had another moment of my own yesterday!

I was invited to cover his charity press conference for the site I work for, and got these amaze candy bars with his face on them from Dylan's Candy Bars, and a keepsake book of his Welcome 2 America tour.

Even better? The press was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at his show during soundcheck! Prince came out in a black velvet sweatshirt, white furry boots, skinny jeans and a white hat (so casual chic) and practiced two songs with his phenomenal band. It felt exactly like those behind-the-scenes DVDs (like Michael Jackson's and Beyonce's) but live.

I grew up listening to live music (everyone in my family is a musician) and all of Prince's hits---and never imagined one day I would see Prince perform them in an empty stadium literally steps away from me! It truly was a special moment that I'll never forget!

The awesome concert he was gearing up for took place last night at Madison Square Garden. Cee-Lo opened (how amazing!) and Prince took the MSG stage for the last time during his Welcome 2 America tour in a gold sequined jumpsuit.

While performing, he called folks on the stage to dance and Kim Kardashian was one of his picks. In a fitted Alexander McQueen printed dress, she looked beautiful but when it came time to dance, she froze.

The star tweeted this about her funk faux paux:

LOL - I'm not mad at her for freezing. Like I said, Prince is an icon with a magical presence onstage. At his show, I cried, screamed, danced, even stopped breathing at points so I totally get it. I wouldn't freeze though, I would do the bump until my hip fell off instead.

Oh - it's hilarious that before Kim comes onstage, Prince says she might be too sexy and when she doesn't move, he's over her. LOL, he's the man! Check the video below:

And here's Kim's latest tweet, love that she has a sense of humor about the whole thing!

What do you think of Kim's Prince moment?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kim Kardashian in Marchesa at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Nevermind why she even attended the SAG Awards and if she's an actual actress (P.S. I thought she did a great job of acting upset with her naked W Magazine cover on Kim & Kourtney Take New York last night. Come on Kimmie), Kim Kardashian rarely misses the chance to appear on a red carpet and last night, she hit the Screen Actor's Guild Awards in a Marchesa gown.

She tweeted that she felt like a "princess" and in case you were wondering, she did indeed step out sans extensions and fake lashes. The result? She sure looked gorgeous without her beauty "enhancers" but the gown just didn't wow me. For princess, I prefer Olivia Wilde's black and gold Marchesa gown from the Golden Globes: full-on sparkly tulle and excess.

I don't think Kim Kardashian embodies that look here; this dress is more of a purple Grecian goddess moment. And that look is equally feminine, gorgeous and sexy. The cut-outs are classy and tasteful and the embroidery is super elegant and modern.

It's admittedly not my favorite Kim or Marchesa moment, but her beauty is non-debatable. What do you guys think of this look? Glam or Sham?

And what exercises does she do for that toned back?

Would You...Wear Shapewear that Reduces Cellulite? Introducing...Wacoal's iPant

Of all the remedies I've heard for cellulite---vaseline, specially-made beauty products, surgical procedures---there's never been a piece of clothing you can wear for smooth, blemish-free skin. Until now.

Wacoal, one of the shapewear leaders, is the first to create a garment that claims to reduce cellulite: the iPant. It incorporates Novarel Slim, which is a microfiber that contains caffeine, retinol, caramides, Vitamin E and aloe vera. As you move and friction is created between your iPant and your skin, those active ingredients are released.

28 days later, the iPant promises to reduce cellulite with lasting results. Hmm...

Bob Vitale, the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Wacoal America, had this to say: "With the introduction of the iPant and use of the newest technologies available, Wacoal furthers the brands reputation in the intimate apparel industry of offering women superior quality and the latest in intimate apparel innovations. We are excited to increase Wacoal’s shapewear offerings and bring something entirely new to the market.”

It's available today on wacoal-america.com and in stores February 10th. If this shapewear works, it's going to fly off the shelves. Are you apprehensive or would you try it?

Natalie Portman vs. Kim Kardashian in Lanvin for H&M: Fashion Faceoff

We all know that I (Coutura) thought the Lanvin for H&M collaboration was nothing short of brilliant. Hollywood thought so too.

Among the many celebs who were spotted wearing the collection, two of my favorites, Golden Globe winner (and Oscar no-brainer!) Natalie Portman and Reality Star/Recording Artist? Kim Kardashian both wore the Lanvin for H&M eggplant dress with poufy shoulder neckline and black grosgrain waistband.

Natalie Portman at the Gotham Independent Film Awards and Kim this week during her Kourtney & Kim Take New York press tour (P.S. are you guys watching that show this weekend?).

I actually wanted this dress (BAD) and tried it on but could not zip it up without crushing my rib cage. Shame. The next size up was just way too big all around. I wonder what size Kim's dress is because she has curves for days, and it didn't seem friendly to mine, which are small by comparison. Hmm...

Anyway, Natalie Portman paired hers with a Dior embellished clutch, black pumps and hot red lips. Kim Kardashian complimented her dress with YSL Tribtoo pumps and a smoky eye.

To me, a smoky eye is everything but Natalie's red lip adds a lovely touch of color and livens up the outfit. I also like that Natalie's hair is up (and in a side bun) so it doesn't compete with the poufy shoulder. Kim's hair, by comparison, makes the look a tad busy. Portman wins this one for me.

What say you?

Kim Kardashian's Music Video Looks Channel Bo Derek and Lil' Kim: Call the Glambulance

Don't say we didn't warn you! Kim Kardashian who created quite the buzz appearing naked in 2010 has a new publicity stunt for 2011: singing.

Much like Kim Zolciak, she's enlisted superproducers (The-Dream) and autotune to force a singing career (listen to the song below).

Kim's voice is pretty dreadful. But one iTunes session listening to Cassie and Rihanna's body of work, and you can ascertain that you don't need a voice these days to sell records.

Just a great beat, a party track and autotune (optional). Oh and a beautiful face and body to distract us from your singing in music videos.

Her latest twitpics prove that Kim is aiming to do just that. The, err, singer tweeted stills that show her rocking "Bo Derek"-inspired braids (her words, not mine) and a Lil Kim or Nicki Minaj moment with red lips and red-tipped bangs.

Yikes. She is gorgeous, but these looks don't do it for me. Also, Kanye West is reportedly her leading man.

She debuted her song during the New Year's Eve party she hosted at Tao in Vegas.

Watch a raw video of her song below.

What do you think, Glamazons? Are the looks, and song, Glam or Sham? Or a total Glambulance moment?

#Best of 2010: 10 Most Memorable Beauty Moments

And just like that Glamazons, we're already on to a New Year! (2011..woo hoo!) I still can't even believe that 2010 is almost over! Can you?! I remember when it started and I swore up and down to myself that I was going to change up my hair color (yeah, it's still blonde, but I love it so!) and do more sophisticated things such as wear a new lipstick shade every day. And, in true New Year's resolution forms, I did either none of or some of the above for a couple of weeks before my attentions focused onto something else more important like figuring out to destroy Crow's Feet or elongating my lashes.
While there was no shortage of ideas running through my head, there were also several moments in which celebrities (and psuedocelebrities) must have been doing the same thing! ("Same thing" meaning that that they did some rather defining things this year in the world of beauty as well.) Let's have a look at them, shall we? Side note: I'm counting down backwards because it's so much more fun than going forwards, right? hahaha

#10. The smokey eye made a big comeback! OK, it never really went away, but we saw several various forms of it, some beautiful and others half psychotic looking.

Here's an example of what I mean by half psychotic crazy looking (ahem Taylor Momsen)

And here's a beautiful, breath-taking example worn by the queen of smokey eye herself, Kim Kardashian.

#9. Bubble gum pink isn't just for your nails anymore.

No matter what the skin tone (or age!) celebs were seen all over the red carpet rocking this super cute shade. I personally hate the color pink, but I couldn't help but to get swept up into the trend myself.

And then Nicki Minaj launched her very own shade with MAC Cosmetics (Pink Friday anyone?) and it quickly became one of my fave shades of lipsticks. So fun!

#8. Rihanna stunned us all by dying her hair color this flaming shade of red...and then commenced to go bananas with hairstyles by changing it from semi-shaved short to straight up short to long to dark brown (huh?) and back to short and red again.

We can't forget about this classic photo below RiRi tweeted of herself after burning her forehead with a curling iron. I can't tell you the number of times that I've done the same smh....

#7. The fashion world was shocked to see that GASP Naomi Campbell really is bald!

OH and Britney Spears still is, too. Weave can't always work wonders, ya know...

#6. While most of still aren't sure why Ke$ha thinks it's ok to strut around wearing blue makeup she apparently doesn't really care what others think. (I know this for a fact because she said so herself at a concert I attended of hers once.) From blue eye makeup to blue lips, this quickly became her signature shade (although I don't think it ever really caught on with the rest of the world, but that's ok, I guess).

#5. It seems as if 2010 was the official year to launch a celebrity fragrance which kind of either really got you excited or made you think this must be the latest ploy in celeb land to get people to pay attention to you.

Jennifer Aniston named hers Lolavie and during interviews wouldn't even reveal the true meaning of the name! If this was an attempt of hers to be secretive and confuse the population into thinking that she actually had depth, then it failed miserably. Two seconds later, she re-named it with her name (shocking!) and the rest goes into "Whatever happened to that fragrance?" history.

Eva Longoria somehow even came up with her own signature scent (although she's really "allergic" to most perfumes) promising that all women everywhere could wear hers (regardless of allergies). Serious side eye.

No matter what the gimmick, no one could beat out the sales or generate as much buzz as Beyonce did with her first fragrance, Heat. (She's got a second one called Heat Rush slated to make its debut by February 2011.)

Also, we can't forget about Mary J. Blige (who hooked up with Carol's Daughter) to launch her scent, My Life, which went on to sell the most bottles of fragrance in history on live television when she hit the HSN airwaves. (It made my 2010 to be there to witness all of this greatness!)

And yeah, Katy Perry launched a pretty delicious smelling one called Purr, but I'm looking forward to smelling what Lady Gaga is cooking up in the kitchen with Coty. (Although we may be waiting a while on it because rumor has it that it won't hit shelves until Spring 2012..sigh.)

#4. High tower hair! Some of it looked really good. Exhibit A: this picture of Janet Jackson from the Met Gala...

And some of it looked...well, um....kind of interesting (ahem Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys)

#3. Actress Emma Watson officially wrapped up filming the Harry Potter flicks and then cut off all of her hair! It could have very easily turned into a crazy moment (a-la that time Britney Spears shaved her head..yikes!) but instead turned out looking very GLAM indeed!

#2. I know, I know, I already mentioned her above (ahem, Kim Kardashian) but you can't talk about big beauty moments and not mention the Kardashian Clan. In one year alone, they managed to single-handedly dominate the beauty scene (Kim even presented at the CEW Beauty Awards!) and I used every single product. From the Kim Kardashian fragrance...

to the self-tanner....

yes, Glamazons, I did it all and can't wait to see what the Kardashian clan comes up with next! Rumor has it that they're working a complete "beauty line" but don't know whether that includes just cosmetics, skincare, hair or all of the above. (And no, I'm not a STAN...I just happen to really like their products, ok?!) I'm super interested in finding out exactly how much $$ these gals managed to rack in with all these beauty deals..hmmm.....

#1. Lady Gaga showed up at the 2010 MTV VMA's rocking a piece of red raw meat on her head that perfectly matched her red lipstick! While she definitely wins for the most interesting beauty looks of the year, this one takes the cake. I remember seeing it on TV and my jaw actually dropping hahaha.

Now that you know my most memorable beauty moments of the year, it's only fair for you to share yours below in the comments section!

#Bestof2010: 10 Most Memorable Fashion Moments

Oh, what a year. We blogged, we obsessed over Michelle Obama's style, we stood in the cold to shop Lanvin for H&M, we lost Alexander McQueen, we saw Kim Kardashian naked, we bought Photoshopped magazine covers, we demanded the industry recognize our curves and we whipped our hair back and forth. Look at the 10, eerrr, 11 fashion moments that defined 2010.

1. Photoshop

Photoshop had the best year in fashion due to editorials where celebrities were almost unrecognizable. No one, not even Rihanna, was safe from airbrushing (her curves went missing on the cover of Elle).

The most disturbing photoshop moment? One of Kimora Lee Simmons' final Baby Phat ads which clearly showed her face pasted on top of a 14 year-old's body. Britney Spears' bobblehead moment on the cover of Cosmopolitan and a lighter-skinned Kim Kardashian in Complex are close seconds.

2. Fashion & Beauty Bloggers

From Tavi Gevinson to Afrobella, this has been a fabulous year for fashion/beauty bloggers whose democratic approach to style has transformed the industry. This year alone, bloggers were recognized in Vogue, the New York Times and (shameless plug) POSHGLAM and they peppered the front row at some of the most exclusive fashion shows. Now that Tavi has a magazine in the works, and Afrobella is blogging for Vogue Black, their 2011 looks even brighter.

3. Fashion's Night Out

Anna Wintour's special night got even bigger this year with a fashion show and a myriad of parties (including a Naomi Campbell dance performance) at stores all over NYC, Atlanta and even other countries. The problem? The crowd got bigger too as Kanye West discovered when he was chased by a mob in Soho.

Dubbed "Halloween for hipsters," the frenzy of well-dressed crazies running after celebs is more than Ferocia and I could handle in 2010. Next year, participate at your own risk.

4. Willow Smith

The breakout star of 2010? Obvsi Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's youngest child, Willow Smith. The progeny of rap, rock & roll and acting greatness spent the better part of the year dominating the red carpet (styled by surprise, surprise, Rihanna's go-to girl, Mariel Haenn).

Naysayers said she looked crazy, or "too grown" until the release of her infectious hit, "Whip My Hair." Willow parading around with a heart-shaped braid and dancing in zebra-print/pink leggings was enough to win over the toughest critic. I was so inspired I dressed up as her for Halloween!

But she didn't stop there - she ended the year with a photo shoot for the London Sunday Times and rumors of a "Parents Just Don't Understand" remake. Werk!

5. Kim Kardashian Naked

To be sure, Kim Kardashian had a jam-packed year, promoting sneakers, clothes for Bebe and QVC, perfume, jewelry, watches, skincare, books, boutiques and swimwear, and building a gargantuan Twitter following along the way.

But all we can recall is hearing that she was somewhere naked...again. The reality star showed up naked on the cover of W Magazine, naked and "unretouched" in Harper's Bazaar, naked in Playboy and naked in that unfortunate sex tape with Ray-J. And we have a feeling she's only getting started. She should totally pull a Rihanna and leak some naked pictures in a hotel room she sent to...Reggie? Miles? Gabriel Aubry? Who is she with, now?

Nakedness aside, it seems her plans for 2011 involve Kanye West, The Dream and a studio. Yes, all you critics who said she was talent-less can now kiss her [naked] behind---she's recording an album. Are you as scared as we are?

6. Gossip Girl

The show continued its cult following in 2010 in part due to the risque plot line (and ads that made fun of parents protesting the show). But the real star? The fash-un! Main wardrobe stylist, Eric Daman made budding fashion icons out of Leighton Meester, who notably dazzled in a lace Marchesa jumpsuit and Blake Lively, who was named the new Chanel spokesperson, got a Christian Louboutin shoe named after her (and bought 40 at the sample sale!), joined the Vogue covergirl rotation and did it all without a stylist. I'm impressed. Now, can someone help Taylor Momsen?

7. Losing Alexander Mcqueen

Who can forget the second day of Fashion Week when news hit that one of our most beloved creative geniuses had taken his own life? It was a day I'll never forget. It made Fashion Week more solemn than ever, and was followed by a year of tributes and teary speeches for Lee McQueen.

Sarah Jessica Parker paid homage on the red carpet of Sex and the City II's London premiere. Lady Gaga paid tribute at the MTV VMA's in a head-to-toe look from his final collection. Naomi Campbell dedicated a segment of her Fashion Relief for Haiti fashion show to him, and Anna Wintour and co. paid their respects at his memorial service in London.

Will there ever be another McQueen? Of course not. But the industry applauded Creative Director Sarah Burton's first collection for the line, which conveyed the message that McQueen's vision and brand will live on.

8. The Rise and Fall of Amber Rose

Speaking of creative geniuses, when one of my favorite designers Christian Siriano invited Amber Rose to his show, sat her front row and dressed her head-to-toe in his gorgeous watercolor dress and claw-heeled pumps, the message was clear: the fashion industry was excited about Amber Rose.

Who is she, exactly? Well, for the better part of the year, the beautiful, curvy girl with the blonde buzzcut didn't even speak (I know this from experience as I accosted her with my camera and tape recorder during Fashion Week...and she remained mute).

Perhaps, her outfits made a louder statement: a shredded black dress with a nude leotard underneath, head-to-toe fur, a black sheer dress and YSL feather sandals, a snakeskin jumpsuit, a black open back jumpsuit, pink cut-out leggings and blue leggings and matching hair. She kept us entertained sartorially to say the least.

And just like that, the stripper-turned-girlfriend of Kanye West was embraced by the industry, showing up in Elle Magazine and walking in fashion shows.

And then, the couple unceremoniously broke up (that breakup may or may not be chronicled in Runaway). A gorgeous blue dress moment at the Louis Vuitton show notwithstanding, Rose's appearances in the Indashio show (above) and at Marithe + Francois Girbaud are a far cry from her glory days as a Paris Fashion Week front row fixture. Oh and she recently kissed Fabolous in a video. Meh.

9. Michelle Obama

If when getting dressed in the morning, you ask yourself "What Would Michelle Obama wear?" you are not alone. The year's most celebrated fashion icon was arguably the wife of President Barack Obama.  Every element of her look from her awesome shiny hair to her pearls was dissected by fashion journalists and imitated by all of us.

Mrs. O, whose sartorial choices are chronicled by a blog of the same name, sent us all in a frenzy when she simply curled her hair, wore a vintage dress or stepped out in sparkly Marc Jacobs.

What I love most? When she made smart fashion statements like wearing an Indian-American designer to welcome Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur to the White House for the First State dinner.

Now that's looks, smarts and class. Bravo!

10. Plus-Size Fashion

When it comes to including plus-size fashion on a regular basis, the industry has a looong way to go but this year was a step in the right direction. Plus-size fashion blogs like Young, Fat & Fabulous, Curvy Girl Chronicles and The Curvy Fashionista gained an almost cult-like following at the top of the year.

V Magazine released a size issue that featured Precious star, Gabourey Sidibe (as one of two covergirls) and finally gave Crystal Renn the recognition she deserves (she's walked in a ton of shows since including Z Spoke by Zac Posen, Jean Paul Gaultier and Chanel).

Industry darling Beth Ditto opened and closed the Jean Paul Gaultier show and continued to penn her popular fashion line for Evans.

Full-Figured Fashion Week gained popularity with 35 sponsors (compared to 7 the year before) and over 300 spectators at events. And finally, Vogue Italia launched the Vogue Curvy site that gave plus-size fashion editorial attention on an international scale. Hopefully, these industry power players will lead the way toward embracing full-figured fashion in 2011.

11. Mastige Lines

How can we talk about 2010 without talking about the mastige collection craze that rocked the fashion industry? Just the idea that such icons as Karl Lagerfeld, Zac Posen, Alber Elbaz or Jean Paul Gaultier were creating fashions that the mere middle-class mortal could get their hands on was just too much for some of us to handle.

Bloggers, like myself, drove themselves crazy chronicling every moment of the sale and posting every picture that hit the web. And consumers came out in droves (even sleeping outside the store overnight sometimes) and reportedly behaved like animals to get their hands on the goods.

While there were several mastige lines this year (Jean Paul Gaultier for Target, Jimmy Choo for Ugg Australia, William Rast for Target, Zac Posen for Target, Mulberry for Target to name a few), the mother of all collaborations was Lanvin for H&M. Strategically leaked pictures, a blogger contest, a video, a fashion show and an anxiety-filled Saturday morning all built up to the release of some clothes. And what glorious clothes they were!

Next year may bring us Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's and Chanel for somebody (ok, the latter is just me dreaming...).

Share your 2010 memories in the comment section, and let me know what crazy fashion happenings I missed! Here's to a fashionable 2011.

Kisses,

Coutura
