Magazine GLAM or SHAM?: Kanye West Writes Own Cover Story In XXL

So, we've covered the man cleavage that singer Kanye West debuted at the MTV VMA awards, but the latest news we've read about him has me shocked and thinking "Is this even legal?!"
West will not only be on the cover of XXL magazine's October 2010 issue, but he also wrote the cover story about himself. Huh?!
Now, from a journalistic standpoint this is a rather strange concept because who's asking the questions here? (That's the whole point of an interview, ya know. The journalist asks the questions and the celebrity provides the answer.) However, it is kind of cool to see a celebrity actually picking up a pen and some paper and writing. (Alright, more like sitting down and typing on your MAC book, but you get my point.)
I do think that all of his publicity stunts are super annoying (insert rolling of the eyes here). And if I have to hear (or see) him apologizing one more time about the whole VMA/Taylor Swift incident, I'm going to scream. (Well, not literally, but just wanted to emphasize how over it I am in regards to hearing about the whole thing.)
I do admire him for taking the time to sit down and tell "the people" what they want to hear in regards to his career, etc. I mean, I'm sure that the mag editors there edited the feature story to high heavens, but I'm interested in seeing what West has to say about himself.
Now, I have witnessed celebrities being guest editors at magazines (although I've never really seen them do any actual magazine work other than showing up for staged photo shoots to make it look like they're working..smh..) so it does make sense that he would be the creative director for the special collector's 40-page section. I also like the cover (it's like a mirror image...very artsy for XXL, don't you think?!)
Does this seem like an issue you'll be purchasing once it hits the news stands on Sept. 28? Or are you over Kanye West talking about himself? Do you think this is GLAM or is just a big 'ole SHAM?!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Eva Marcille's Sequins, Feathers and Blonde Hair at the 2010 MTV VMAs

So...Eva Marcille seemed determined to make a statement this year. Sequins, feathers, sheer fabric, plunging neckline and blue platform pumps? Yes, she brought her best red-carpet glamour for the night's event.

While I love her new blonde 'do (Ameriie, take note), the elaborate dress and head-turning hair color is a bit busy for me.

What's your take on her look? Glam or Sham?

Rosario Dawson's Boring Beauty Look At The MTV VMAs

Oh, look! It's Rosario Dawson. Looking as boring as can be with a ponytail and red lipstick.
Yawn.
If you ask me, this actress never does anything fun or glamorous with her beauty looks. She always looks so boring. I mean, come on! You're a celebrity, Rosario!! (Or is she still one? What was the last movie that she starred in? Wait, let me rephrase that to say: what was the last hit movie that she starred in?!) OK, alright, I'll stop before you guys start saying that I'm being mean. But I'm really not. Don't you think her beauty look is boring, too! (The dress on the other hand is killer....but what's up with those green pumps?!)

GLAM OR SHAM?: Ciara in a Lace & Feathery Givenchy Couture Dress at the 2010 MTV VMAs

As the face of Givenchy, Ciara gets to wear all their dark, glamorous gowns on the red (or white) carpet. And we have to admit, she wears them well.

For the 2010 VMAs, she chose a lace Givenchy dress with feather accents that fade from black to faint pink. Ciara complimented the dress with pink Givenchy platforms which are to-die-for.

Personally, I love this look. It's fashion-forward without trying too hard (which Ciara has a bad habit of doing), and sexy, feminine and fun.

What do you think of Ciara's look? Did she get it right? Is it Glam or Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Selena Gomez's Super Long Weave At The MTV VMAs

Now, you guys know that I'm all about adding a track or two (or three!) in my head every now and again, but I'd never go so far as to have the tracks running down my back. Apparently, Selena Gomez has no problem with it! The actress paired her silver gown and blue smokey eye with this uber long ponytail at the MTV VMA's. What do you think of this look? (If you ask me, that ponytail literally overshadows her face. Mess.)

GLAM OR SHAM?: Katy Perry in a Sheer Marchesa Dress (and Russell Brand's Picture on Her Nails) at the 2010 MTV VMAs

You can count on Katy Perry to make a memorable statement on the white carpet. For the 2010 VMAs, the singer chose a daring Marchesa sheer dress with a white ruffle skirt.

The sheer top is super sexy, yet the elegant embroidery makes the look a tad more sophisticated. Katy Perry keeps it fun though with a head full of black curls with purple and blue highlights. Bold!

And as for her nails, she paid a special tribute to fiance Russell Brand.

I just love her funky, experimental approach to fashion and beauty! What's your take? Does she look fun and cool, or a hot tacky mess?

Decide: is she Glam or Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Lady Gaga at the 2010 MTV VMAs in Alexander McQueen

 Whoa.

Lady Gaga is, like, my hero. She showed up to the VMA's in an amazing dress from Alexander McQueen.

The gown features religious imagery and McQueen's signature red and gold color palette from his Fall 2010 collection. She paired it with McQueen's iconic claw heels and she thanked him during her Awards speech for Best Female Video.

Gaga topped off the gown with a gold feather headdress to make her stand out in typical Gaga fashion.

And the hair? Gray and long with turquoise blue ends. Wow!

Judge her look: is she Glam or Sham?
