GLAM OR SHAM?: Ciara in a Lace & Feathery Givenchy Couture Dress at the 2010 MTV VMAs

As the face of Givenchy, Ciara gets to wear all their dark, glamorous gowns on the red (or white) carpet. And we have to admit, she wears them well.

For the 2010 VMAs, she chose a lace Givenchy dress with feather accents that fade from black to faint pink. Ciara complimented the dress with pink Givenchy platforms which are to-die-for.

Personally, I love this look. It's fashion-forward without trying too hard (which Ciara has a bad habit of doing), and sexy, feminine and fun.

What do you think of Ciara's look? Did she get it right? Is it Glam or Sham?

Transgender supermodel lands Givenchy campaign

Lea T, born Leandro Cerezo, is undergoing hormone replacement therapy ahead of a full sex-change, but in the meantime is still securing major modelling campaigns.

The 28-year-old is currently in a modelling campaign for Givenchy, has posed naked for French Vogue and is in this month’s Italian Vanity Fair, where she describes her struggle with her identity.

Despite a successful career as a male model, Lea told the magazine how casting directors would often confuse her with female models and has always felt feminine.
‘When I walked into a room for a casting, there would always be someone who would say: ‘The girls’ casting is that way!’’

Since taking hormone therapy, she said it has left her constantly feeling ‘premenstrual’ and has faced taunts while walking down the street in Italy.

But her new Givenchy campaign shows that there is a place for transgender models in the industry and despite her struggle, has continued to find success in the industry.

She stars alongside top models Mariacarla Boscono, Malgosia Bela and Joan Smalls in the campaign.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Christina Ricci in Givenchy

Now, I'm slightly biased in writing this post because I happen to love actress Christina Ricci! She's the epitome of cool and I can't help but to think that she can do no wrong; that was until I saw pics of her from last night at an event here in NYC. I don't want to be too negative, so I'll start by saying that her makeup looked flawless! It was done by NARS National makeup artist Francelle.
"I wanted Christina's look to exude edgy classic noir," Francelle said. "It's all about the eyes. We kept them classic but infused edginess by adding green tones."
You have to admit that her eye makeup is on point! Here's a list of the products Francelle used on them:
-NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
-NARS Galapagos Eyeshadow
-NARS Misfit Duo Eyeshadow
-NARS Aigle Noir Soft Touch Shadow Pencil

Ok, now let's get to the Givenchy dress Ricci wore. I don't know what makes it look worse: the feathers, the sheer tail in the back, or the fact that you can totally see the bottoms of her boobs.

What do you think, Glamazons? GLAM or SHAM?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Ciara's Sexy High-Fashion Spread for Vogue Paris

Confession: I have never been a fan of Ciara's magazine spreads. Until now. The songstress starred in a feature story for Vogue Paris shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Givenchy’s Creative Director Riccardo Tisci. She looks impeccable.

Evoking religious imagery, the spread features Ciara alongside male models in elegant, sophisticated poses. Ciara, who is Givenchy's muse (she also wore Givenchy Couture to the 2010 Grammys), looks beautiful and timeless in these shots, my opinion.

What do you think of the spread and Ciara's new high-fashion look?

I have to admit I am a huge fan of hers these days, following her smoking video for the single, "Ride," which was banned from BET (Oh...the irony). I am glad Ciara is finding her own footing and I believe the success of "Ride" and this amazing editorial spread are steps in the right direction. Do you agree?

AD GLAM: Givenchy Casts Transsexual Model in Ad Campaign for Fall 2010

Inclusion is in style. The Givenchy Fall 2010 ad campaign will include a transsexual model via WWD.com. Riccardo Tisci, the brand's creative director, opted to cast transsexual model, Lea T., who is also his personal assistant and former fit model. And she looks incredible in the ads!

Tisci noted that including a transsexual model in his ads demonstrates the "masculine-feminine dichotomy" that epitomizes his brand.

I am thrilled to see this kind of inclusion, especially on the helm of the fashion industry embracing plus-size and ethnically diverse models as well. Fashion is for everyone. Bravo Givenchy!

What do you think of Givenchy's decision to include a transsexual model?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Jada Pinkett at the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards

Whether dressy or casual, Jada Pinkett Smith is a style icon on the red carpet. She wears looks that compliment her petite frame and highlight her perpetually glowing skin.

Last night's Kids' Choice Awards was no different. The gorgeous actress hit the orange carpet in a pair of bubble shorts that elongated her legs, a white blouse, layered necklaces (with a cross, also seen on Rihanna) and Givenchy sandals (previously spotted on Amerie, below).

Most interesting was her inverted braid high ponytail. Unique and utterly gorgeous on her, in my opinion.

What are your thoughts on her look, and that unique hairstyle? Glam or a Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Zoe Saldana at The 2010 Oscars

Glamour and ESSENCE Magazine Covergirl, Zoe Saldana, traded in Avatar blue for a stunning purple Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress at the 2010 Oscar's.

While the sparkly bodice of the gown lit up Zoe's glowing skin, the purple light-to-dark tiered ruffles were extravagant and distracting---resembling something of a bathroom rug. The top and bottom of the dress weren't cohesive, either, and almost seemed like two different dresses were sewn together.

Furthermore, the ruffles seemed to weigh down Zoe's small frame. The tiers looked like they were swallowing her from the bottom up.

The dress did little to take away from Zoe's beauty, though. She looked strikingly gorgeous with an updo pulled off her face and sultry smoky eyes (click here for tips on how to get the look).

What do you think of Zoe's look, Glamazons? Glam or a Sham?

Givenchy & Sabrina

Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina 1954
Dress by Givenchy

pictures from bp , problogs , & meganwegan
So I've been watching Sabrina the last couple of days and I just love the dress that Givenchy designed that Audrey Hepburn wears in it. Givenchy and Audrey were great friends and Givenchy designed many of the clothing in Hepburn's movies by her request. I love this movie and the more recent version of it. Its such a cute love story. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! Hope your Valentines Day was lovely and fashionable of course :)

So what do you think of Givenchy's design & what is your favorite Audrey Hepburn movie?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Ciara at the Grammys

The Fashion Show faux paux heard 'round the world, Ciara showed up late to Givenchy's Spring 2010 Couture presentation and was met with a chorus of 'Boo's.' Not the best way to begin a relationship between a recording artist and a fashion house.

Nonetheless, Ciara made goth glamorous in a Givenchy look on the Grammy red carpet last night. Sure, it was more high fashion than we have previously seen from Ciara---but is that a bad thing? I vote No.

It was see-through, showing off her GORGEOUS gams and daringly dark. Plus the diamond-studded jacket added tons of cool, rockstar edge.

I loved that it was a different aesthetic for the red carpet, where beautiful, elegant and ethereal looks reign.

Also, Ciara's black ponytail was just the hairstyle to complement the dress without distracting from it. And the fresh-faced makeup look only highlighted her natural beauty.

Clearly, I'm a fan but naysayers tore the dress to shreds on Twitter last night. What's your verdict, Glamazons? Glam or a Sham?

Blast From the Past

Givenchy Spring 2010 CoutureAudrey Hepburn in Givenchy (Funny Face)
pictures from style.com and http://cinegeek.com/?p=561
When I saw the Givenchy Spring 2010 Couture collection, my mind went directly to the movie Funny Face. Some of the pieces in Givenchy's new line remind me so much of the dress that Givenchy designed for Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn were great friends, and Audrey always had Givenchy design her clothes for the movies she was acting in whenever it was possible. I love Audrey Hepburn's style and I'm also in love with Givenchy's designs. From the original designer to now, Givenchy is breathtaking.
