Kime Buzzelli

Kime Buzzelli, is one of the fashion illustrators who has inspired me for a long time, I am not overly keen on heavy CAD generated illustrations so her mixed media methods are perfect for my taste! Buzzelli was a major influence in producing my graduate collection. Buzzelli has been experimenting with various media to "transform the hideous into something with glamour." Her choice of materials are as diverse as, make up, watercolour, thread, fabric and a variety of decomposing materials. Buzzelli confesses she is obsessed with lost innocence, teen lust - that making out in a back seat kinda feeling. Amazing inspiration for her illustrations and she captures it well, and I'm thinking the perfect soundtrack to all this must be Katy Perry's latest album Teenage Dream, with adolescent gems such as 'Last Friday Night' and 'The One that got Away'.

Not only is Kime Buzzelli producing these amazing illustrations and commissions, since 2009 she has been the Costume Designer for US teen drama (and my biggest guilty pleasure) '90210'. Surely the most 'unreal' job like ever?! She also owns and runs iconic shop 'Showpony' in L.A.

Buzzelli's work and career is sure one to watch.

GET THE LOOK: Katy Perry's Cutie-Pie Curls At The 2011 People's Choice Awards

One of my favorite beauty and fashion looks from last night's People's Choice Awards goes to none other than the glamazing Katy Perry. Decked out in a fun 1980ish looking strapless tutu-like Betsey Johnson dress, Perry's hair was styled by one of my all-time fave hair stylists, Danilo. Much like her style at the American Music Awards, Danilo left her hair down this time around as well and gave her these "sophisticated, cutie-pie curls." Here's how you can get the look:

-Start with washed, towel-dried hair.
-Lightly mist your hair with the Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Heat Protection & Shine Spray.
-Spray roots with Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Root Lifter Spray Gel to prep for voluminous style.
-Blow out your hair and then rub a small dollop of the Pantene Pro-V Restore Beautiful Lengths Smoothing Balm before applying heat from the curling iron.
-Using a medium-sized curling iron, set each section of the hair and spray with Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Professional Level Style Shaping Hairspray. Let it cool for about 5 minutes and gently brush.

These products will help you to achieve this look:

#Best of 2010: 10 Most Memorable Beauty Moments

And just like that Glamazons, we're already on to a New Year! (2011..woo hoo!) I still can't even believe that 2010 is almost over! Can you?! I remember when it started and I swore up and down to myself that I was going to change up my hair color (yeah, it's still blonde, but I love it so!) and do more sophisticated things such as wear a new lipstick shade every day. And, in true New Year's resolution forms, I did either none of or some of the above for a couple of weeks before my attentions focused onto something else more important like figuring out to destroy Crow's Feet or elongating my lashes.
While there was no shortage of ideas running through my head, there were also several moments in which celebrities (and psuedocelebrities) must have been doing the same thing! ("Same thing" meaning that that they did some rather defining things this year in the world of beauty as well.) Let's have a look at them, shall we? Side note: I'm counting down backwards because it's so much more fun than going forwards, right? hahaha

#10. The smokey eye made a big comeback! OK, it never really went away, but we saw several various forms of it, some beautiful and others half psychotic looking.

Here's an example of what I mean by half psychotic crazy looking (ahem Taylor Momsen)

And here's a beautiful, breath-taking example worn by the queen of smokey eye herself, Kim Kardashian.

#9. Bubble gum pink isn't just for your nails anymore.

No matter what the skin tone (or age!) celebs were seen all over the red carpet rocking this super cute shade. I personally hate the color pink, but I couldn't help but to get swept up into the trend myself.

And then Nicki Minaj launched her very own shade with MAC Cosmetics (Pink Friday anyone?) and it quickly became one of my fave shades of lipsticks. So fun!

#8. Rihanna stunned us all by dying her hair color this flaming shade of red...and then commenced to go bananas with hairstyles by changing it from semi-shaved short to straight up short to long to dark brown (huh?) and back to short and red again.

We can't forget about this classic photo below RiRi tweeted of herself after burning her forehead with a curling iron. I can't tell you the number of times that I've done the same smh....

#7. The fashion world was shocked to see that GASP Naomi Campbell really is bald!

OH and Britney Spears still is, too. Weave can't always work wonders, ya know...

#6. While most of still aren't sure why Ke$ha thinks it's ok to strut around wearing blue makeup she apparently doesn't really care what others think. (I know this for a fact because she said so herself at a concert I attended of hers once.) From blue eye makeup to blue lips, this quickly became her signature shade (although I don't think it ever really caught on with the rest of the world, but that's ok, I guess).

#5. It seems as if 2010 was the official year to launch a celebrity fragrance which kind of either really got you excited or made you think this must be the latest ploy in celeb land to get people to pay attention to you.

Jennifer Aniston named hers Lolavie and during interviews wouldn't even reveal the true meaning of the name! If this was an attempt of hers to be secretive and confuse the population into thinking that she actually had depth, then it failed miserably. Two seconds later, she re-named it with her name (shocking!) and the rest goes into "Whatever happened to that fragrance?" history.

Eva Longoria somehow even came up with her own signature scent (although she's really "allergic" to most perfumes) promising that all women everywhere could wear hers (regardless of allergies). Serious side eye.

No matter what the gimmick, no one could beat out the sales or generate as much buzz as Beyonce did with her first fragrance, Heat. (She's got a second one called Heat Rush slated to make its debut by February 2011.)

Also, we can't forget about Mary J. Blige (who hooked up with Carol's Daughter) to launch her scent, My Life, which went on to sell the most bottles of fragrance in history on live television when she hit the HSN airwaves. (It made my 2010 to be there to witness all of this greatness!)

And yeah, Katy Perry launched a pretty delicious smelling one called Purr, but I'm looking forward to smelling what Lady Gaga is cooking up in the kitchen with Coty. (Although we may be waiting a while on it because rumor has it that it won't hit shelves until Spring 2012..sigh.)

#4. High tower hair! Some of it looked really good. Exhibit A: this picture of Janet Jackson from the Met Gala...

And some of it looked...well, um....kind of interesting (ahem Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys)

#3. Actress Emma Watson officially wrapped up filming the Harry Potter flicks and then cut off all of her hair! It could have very easily turned into a crazy moment (a-la that time Britney Spears shaved her head..yikes!) but instead turned out looking very GLAM indeed!

#2. I know, I know, I already mentioned her above (ahem, Kim Kardashian) but you can't talk about big beauty moments and not mention the Kardashian Clan. In one year alone, they managed to single-handedly dominate the beauty scene (Kim even presented at the CEW Beauty Awards!) and I used every single product. From the Kim Kardashian fragrance...

to the self-tanner....

yes, Glamazons, I did it all and can't wait to see what the Kardashian clan comes up with next! Rumor has it that they're working a complete "beauty line" but don't know whether that includes just cosmetics, skincare, hair or all of the above. (And no, I'm not a STAN...I just happen to really like their products, ok?!) I'm super interested in finding out exactly how much $$ these gals managed to rack in with all these beauty deals..hmmm.....

#1. Lady Gaga showed up at the 2010 MTV VMA's rocking a piece of red raw meat on her head that perfectly matched her red lipstick! While she definitely wins for the most interesting beauty looks of the year, this one takes the cake. I remember seeing it on TV and my jaw actually dropping hahaha.

Now that you know my most memorable beauty moments of the year, it's only fair for you to share yours below in the comments section!

FIRST LOOK!: Rihanna's New Fragrance, Reb'l Fleur

Hey Glamazons! So, remember when I confessed my undying love for Katy Perry's new fragrance Purr and how Katy spilled the beans about Rihanna's upcoming signature scent?! (Yeah, they're total BFF's, so of course Katy couldn't talk about her new fragrance without mentioning RiRi's.)
While it may not exactly be pronounced like the english version that I previously reported "Rebel Flower," I predict that it's probably going to be a hit. (Only because most of what RiRi does is.) The real name of the fragrance "Reb'l Fleur" actually stems from the tattoo that RiRi has on her neck that reads "rebelle fleur."
Above is a picture of how the packaging will look. A couple of weeks ago, I was hanging out with one of my beauty editor friends from a major magazine who let me get a whiff of it, and (I'm being completely honest here!) I'm not a fan. Although I like the packaging (it's supposed to be reminiscent of a high heel; think more along the lines of the actual heel) I thought it smelled rather cheap. (My beauty editor friend also thought the same thing..that it smells cheap.)

Hmmm...I'm interested to see what kind of advertising RiRi will have for this scent. Also, I'm thinking that I should add it to my fragrance boudoir just for the packaging...because that's about all I like about this new scent thus far.

What do you think of it, Glamazons? Do you plan on purchasing it once it hits stores in a couple of months?

Katy Perry The Sexiest Girl

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), better known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American pop musician. Born in Santa Barbara, California, and raised by Christian pastor parents; Perry grew up listening to only gospel music and sang in her local church as a child. After earning a GED during her freshman year of high school, she began to pursue a career in music. As Katy Hudson, she released a self-titled gospel album in 2001, which due to the closing of her record label, was deemed unsuccessful. She later recorded an album with production team The Matrix and completed the majority of a solo album from 2004–5; neither of which were released.

After signing with Capitol Music Group in 2007, her fourth record label in seven years, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry and released her first Internet single "Ur So Gay" that November, which garnered public attention; but failed to chart. She rose to fame with the release of her second single "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008, which went on to top international charts. Perry's first mainstream studio album One of the Boys followed later that year and subsequently, became the thirty-third best selling album worldwide of 2008. It was accredited platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America while "I Kissed a Girl" and her second single "Hot n Cold" both received multi-platinum certifications. Perry was ranked the ninety-seventh Artist of the 2000–10 decade by Billboard.

She has since become well recognized for having an unconventional style of dress and often combines bold colors and vintage fashion. Her sophomore studio album Teenage Dream was released in August 2010 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album included hit singles "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream" and "Firework", all of which topped the charts on the Billboard Hot 100 and worldwide.

Perry has since expanded her repertoire into various other business ventures. She was credited as a guest judge on the seventh series of the British television show The X Factor; has released a fragrance called "Purr"; and will appear in the upcoming 2011-film The Smurfs. Perry had a long relationship with Travie McCoy; she married Russell Brand on October 23, 2010.

GET THE LOOK! Katy Perry's Flowing Waves At The 2010 American Music Awards

Alright, I know it seems like I've been talking about Katy Perry a lot these days (I'm even wearing her new fragrance Purr right now as I type this) but I assure that I'm totally not a STAN.
I just happen to really like her style plus she's like the cutest girl in America right now. She's totally my girl crush of the moment! (Right before her it was Kim Kardashian, but I'm not feeling the shape that her face is starting to morph into since she keeps getting all of that plastic surgery..ew.)

And, speaking of style, Katy's was right on point at last night's American Music Awards!
I loved the naturally peachy pink look she rocked on the red carpet and those lush lashes were definitely giving me life. However, it's her flowing, wavy locks that give her that pretty-girl-next-door look I so adore.
Lucky for her, she had the amazing Pantene Celebrity Stylist Danilo sculpting her locks. (He's also Gwen Stefani's go-to hair guy..love him!)
According to Danilo, Katy's look last night on the red carpet was "classic Hollywood with a contemporary twist." For the show, she wanted to have "big, voluminous hair," so Danilo said he used products from Pantene's Fine Collection to give her long lasting volume.
Here's Danilo's step-by-step guide on you can get Katy's look:

- “Before doing any hair style, I always encourage my clients to wash and condition their hair—that way I can start with a clean, healthy base. I recommend beginning with the Pantene Pro-V Fine Flat to Volume Shampoo and Conditioning regimen, the customized formula gently cleanses hair to help remove dulling residue and build up while replenishing from root to tip.”

- “Before blow-drying, I applied a light mist of the Pantene Pro-V Fine Heat Protection & Shine Spray to Katy’s hair. This helps to protect hair against heat while providing a soft, healthy-looking finish.”

-“Next, I sprayed each section with the Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Root Lifter Spray Gel, this provides weightless volume that is full of long lasting body and shine. After her hair was prepped, I blew out the hair, creating volume from the base of the strands.”

-“Using a medium curling iron, I created a spiral glamour set on each section of the hair and sprayed it with the Pantene Pro-V Touchable Volume Hairspray. Then each curl was pinned up and left to cool.“

-“Once I took the curls out, I used a glamour set where I brushed the curls out so the wave pattern revealed itself, opposed to hair being tousled. This gives a glamorous look to the hair. What I love about this look is that the wave is at the bottom, opposed to a retro look were the hair is curled under.”

AND (most importantly) check out her awesome performance from last night!

Katy Perry Launches Fragrance In New York Plus Reveals Name For BFF Rihanna's Upcoming Fragrance!

There was an explosion of purple Tuesday at Nordstrom's pop-up trailer here in NYC for the official U.S. launch of Katy Perry's new signature fragrance Purr. Clad in a long, fitted Zac Posen dress, the new bride looked very grown-up, wouldn't you say? And kudos to that lovely statement necklace that she's wearing as well. LOVE!

But, back to the fragrance: so, as we've told you before Glamazons, Katy wanted her fragrance to be "completely unlike anything she's smelled before."

My fave WWD quote in regards to this new kitty fragrance amazingness?:
"You can put all the bells and whistles on things and it can still smell like sh*t. I was very particular about this...I couldn't put out something that I didn't 100 percent believe in."

While I haven't quite yet managed to get my hands on it yet to tell you whether it really does smell like sh*t or not, I can say that the packaging is genius. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a purple glass kitty chilling on their boudoir?! I also think that the ads are hilarious! (Click here to check out one of the shots.)

In other fragrance news, the pop star spilled the beans to JustJared about plans for her BFF Rihanna's new fragrance. It's going to be called 'Rebel Flower.'

"I'm excited to see hers because she does things with a twist, too and we're always trying to push the envelope and raise the bar," she told JustJared Tuesday.

Oooo exciting, right Glamazons?! I mean, I agree that Rihanna is definitely pushing the bar with this red hair business (which I happen to think looks better shorter) so I can't wait to see what she's brewing up in the fragrance labs.

Purr by Katy Perry costs $36 for 1 0z and is now available at Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com. We hear that there should be a matching body lotion and shower gel launching soon as well, but no real confirmation as to when it will hit stores or pricing. (Just note that it's coming!)

What do you think of the bottle for Purr, Glamazons? AND do you plan on purchasing Rihanna's fragrance once it hits stands?!

GLAM OR SHAM: Katy Perry's Purr Fragrance Ad

In-between working on plans to launch her own clothing line and partying bachelorette style in Vegas, Katy Perry shot photos of herself dressed as a cat for her upcoming fragrance, Purr. And, can I just say, that I'd love to get my hands on this to wear as a Halloween costume?! (Because I clearly have no idea as to what I'm going to be). Coutura dressed up as a sexy kitty one year at her Halloween house party and looked super cute, don't you think?!

But, back to the fragrance: so we already told you that she was launching it but WWD reports that the bottle will fittingly be "cat-shaped and have jeweled eyes, metallic accents and lavendar shading." You'll start to see the first ads in fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazines starting in January 2011 but the actual fragrance will hit a Nordstrom near you in November.

What do you think of Katy's Purr fragrance ad? Is it GLAM or a SHAM?

Katy Perry to Launch Fashion Line

Katy Perry is rumored to be in talks with Steve Madden to launch a fashion line via Page Six, and I could only be more excited if it was...Lady Gaga (C'mon, bubble or meat dresses for sale would be pure entertainment.)

I'm positive Katy's theatrical style statements, from light-up dresses to colorful frocks, will delight fast teenage girls everywhere.

The pop star---who is just as fun and out-of-control in person---gravitates toward vibrant, funky looks with youthful energy and plenty of sex appeal. And she just looves pin-up girl silhouettes.

If that's not a formula for mass appeal, I don't know what is.

Can we expect rainbow-colored dresses, blue and purple hair, candy-stripe skirts, light-up tanks, Elmo shirts and more raiding the Junior's section of department stores in the near future? I think so...and while I wouldn't wear it, I'm sure it will sell out the stores.

With Steve Madden on her side, a successful fashion brand for Katy Perry is more than likely. Steve Madden has previously collaborated with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to produce Olsenboyle and Elizabeth and James, two popular fashion lines. And he recently covered Betsey Johnson's credit debt and bought her trademarks, increasing his investment in the brand. Smart business moves all-around!

What do you think of Katy Perry's rumored fashion line? Will it be a hit? Would YOU rock her designs?

Kisses,

Coutura
