PIC: Beyonce Walks in Tom Ford Spring 2011 Show

Ugh. We told you during New York Spring 2011 Fashion Week that Queen Beyonce walked in the Tom Ford show but due to Mr. Ford's distaste for the internet and fashion media in general, editors weren't allowed to take or share pictures.

Well, finally, Glamazons, the moment has come where the picture they guarded like fossils at the Louvre has been released. The picture will appear in the January issue of Harper's Bazaar. And it may have been worth the wait.

A voluminous blonde curly afro, skin-tight metallic python-pattern dress and fishnet peeptoe knee boots? Fierce! Did she vanish at the end of the catwalk into a pool of sequined glitter? That's the only way this could get hotter.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kim Kardashian Gets Naked For W Magazine

You know, for someone who claims to be really uncomfortable naked in front of a bunch of cameras, Kim Kardashian sure does seem to keep taking her clothes off. But, instead of another sex tape, Playboy or Harper's Bazaar she's done it for W Magazine.

According to Celebuzz.com, the pictures are part of the mag's October 2010 'Art Issue' and feature Kim with wild hair covered in silver body paint. Check out the photos below:

Magazine Glam: Serena Williams Poses for Harper's Bazaar, Says Common Didn't Want the Responsibility of a Relationship

Win Wimbledon, have a photo shoot at high-fashion magazine, reveal all the details of a high-profile break-up? Just another day in the life of tennis great, Serena Williams. 

The fashion designer appears in the new Bazaar, talking about her new, tight bod (wasn't she always fit, or is it just me?) that she apparently got from Pilates. Umm, Pilates never gave me those curves.

Serena flaunts her stuff in a sizzling hot white one-piece suit and nude cinched dress. Love it!

She's also surprisingly candid about the demise of her relationship with Common, citing that he's busy and not "ready for the responsibility of a relationship." Yeah, most guys aren't, Serena, especially when they're hot, famous and bald (bald in the sexy way).

She dished that he still was full of compliments when asked about her on the red carpet to promote his film Just Wright. Bet you Serena's Wimbledon trophy and a Pilates tape that they get back together. (By the way, I'm totally secretly hoping a reunion happens. They're the perfect couple in my head).

Kim Kardashian Goes Naked and Unretouched for May Harper's Bazaar

Is everyone getting naked this month? Cue Erykah Badu's Window Seat video.

Starting with Catherine Zeta Jones in May's Allure, news is hitting the web that celebrities are shedding their clothes for the camera. But with a message. The latest celeb going nude for social commentary is the reality TV star whose fifteen minutes will never end, Kim Kardashian.

In May's Harper's Bazaar, Kim disrobes---sans airbrushing---to encourage women to embrace their curves via Us Weekly. It's not like there are rolls and cellulite in the photo (above) but if you squint and stare closely, you can see some imperfections like...umm...I guess a line...by her stomach?

Jokes aside, I am always happy to see curves embraced, and I especially like Kim's ambivalent attitude about her butt.


"[I don't] get why everyone is always going on about my butt," Kim told Harper's Bazaar. "I'm Armenian. It's normal. My butt is probably not as big as you might think, because I have small legs and a small waist, which makes it appear bigger."

I applaud her and relate to her here. My family is known to be petite with shapely rears, so I have one too, that doesn't mean I want people walking down the street, pointing and staring at me like I'm on display at a museum.

What she's doing, which is quite brilliant, is normalizing curves to a culture that doesn't normally accept them. And that's always a good thing even if the curves aren't totally "unretouched."

Magazine Sham: Jersey Shore in Harper's Bazaar and Interview Magazine

If I knew all I had to do to make in a major Fashion magazine was live in the tanning booth, wear an exorbitant amount of hair gel and fist pump, I would've done it a long time ago.

The alien species of Guidos and Guidettes is now, sadly, the toast of the Fashion world, being shot by the industry's most renowned photographers and landing features in Fashion Magazines.

Is tacky the new trendy? Judging from Interview Magazine's photo shoot, shot by (gasp) Terri Richardson, and Harper's Bazaar's spread featuring Snooki & cohorts, the answer is a resounding Yes.

Sidenote: Apparently, J Woww tweeted she was shooting for "Harper's Bizaar" from her Twitter account. Bizaar?! (I'm currently giving the most vicious sideeye I can muster).

Maybe fashion insiders think orange skin and gelled-down bouffants are the new hot trends of the Summer season (barf). Maybe the industry tastemakers believe they can transform Snooki into a polished, fashion darling who wears clothes that aren't made with 75% spandex and lycra and sold in a cheap store that smells like polyester on the boardwalk. Maybe we're so shocked that functional human beings have no problem being seen, and filmed, in trashy clothes that we can't stop staring at it.

No matter the motive, the fact remains that your favorite magazines will run shoots with the Jersey Shore crew in the following months. See pics below...and weep.

Puppet Couture: Marc Jacobs meets Miss Piggy; Harper's Bazaar visits Sesame Street; Lady Gaga wears Kermit the Frog

Marc Jacob's newest muse is famous, glamorous and pink from head-to-toe. Who is it, you ask? None other than my childhood idol, Miss Piggy! She had the good fortune of hanging out with the designer in his showroom and previewing his Spring 2010 collection. He even dressed her for Chicago’s Glamorama 2009: A Night of Fashion and Music Tickets. No, I'm not kidding.

Miss Piggy, Kermit and Elmo have each made news in the fashion circuit lately hanging out in designer showrooms, doing photo shoots for magazines and making celebrity appearances. Take a trip down memory lane with Harper's Bazaar's Sesame Street spread, Miss Piggy's modeling stint and Lady Gaga's Kermit outfit. And can someone please give Mickey and Minnie a makeover? It's a hundred years overdue. Thanks!

In September's Harper's Bazaar, my fave model, Sessilee Lopez, and fashion royalty like Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera visit Sesame Street to celebrate the show's fortieth anniversary.







And Lady Gaga went on TV in Germany wearing a jacket made completely of Kermit the Frog dolls. I'm disturbed.

Magazine Glam: In Style and Harper's Bazaar

Hey Glamazons!

September is my favorite time of year as a Fashion Assistant. Why? Besides my dying anticipation for Fashion Week (just started getting invites - so excited!), it's the largest, most important issue for most Fashion books.

I got a sneak peek at a few of the September fashion spreads and (for the most part) love what I see. Some stories have caused quite a lot of controversy and heated debates in the office, but I'll let you be the judge.

Harper's Bazaar's September issue. Agyness Deyn channels Micheal Jackson for a tribute to his legendary style on a cover for subscriber's only photographed by Terry Richardson. In the corresponding spread, she recreates such iconic moments as Thriller and the Grammy's wearing his glittery glove, the military jacket and of course, the loafers. Inside the issue, Jean-Paul Goude shoots Naomi Campbell on an African safari in jungle-inspired looks replete with elephants and monkeys.

I'm partial to the Safari shoot as Naomi is truly the most beautiful specimen in the human race. And while Tyra Banks is applauding Eva from ANTM for taking pictures with a spider, Naomi is riding an elephant and posing on top of an alligator. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a real model.





But, I do understand the criticism. Folks at the job are complaining that shooting an African-American woman in the jungle recalls dangerous stereotypes that liken black females to animals. I don't agree that Bazaar is typecasting black models or insinuating that black women are animalistic. (I pray that we've evolved past that stage.)

However, I do recognize that perception is everything. A racist mind could interpret these images to mean black women are barbaric or less than human. Since fashion editorial spreads are a form of art and art is open to interpretation, do we criticize the spread itself or the racists that interpret the spread negatively? Just a thought.

Agyness Deyn as Michael Jackson has proven to be just as controversial. I don't necessarily agree with my co-workers that a black model should have been cast as Michael (by the time he passed, Michael was as pale as they come...said respectfully, of course). I just don't feel Agyness Deyn was the right model for the job. There's no energy, movement or life to Agyness' poses and that's what we all loved about Michael. Do you agree?
