Lady Gaga's NEW Song + Mugler Menswear Show in Paris [Video]
Skeleton body tattoos, 80's fashion, latex, club anthems! When there's this much fashion-crazed, maddened energy in one place, Lady Gaga is not far behind.
I'm talking about the House of Mulger Menswear show which took place yesterday in Paris unveiling the first collection with Gaga stylist, Nicola Formichetti (below) as creative director.
The much talked-about collection premiere is en tandem with the debut of a never-before-heard Gaga track off Born This Way, coming out this Spring! Umm, sidenote: I cannot WAIT. Total Gaga withdrawal.
The techno bass-heavy song is an ideal compliment to the 80's-inspired collection of strong-shouldered suits and outerwear. The message was extremity. Silhouettes were baggy and then, shockingly tight; colors were deep and dark and then, bright and bold.
The "flawed superhuman" theme of the collection, designed by Romain Kremer, materialized in neoprene, plastic, nylon and latex outerwear. And then there were head covers, masks and crowns. And we can't forget those much-talked-about skeleton tattoos on Canadian model Rick Genest.
Check out the dark fashion film, directed by Mariano Vivanco with music by Lada Gaga and snippets from Mugler's show below via Stylelist:
What do you think of the collection, film AND song? LOL. Are you excited for Lady Gaga's new album?

Thierry Mugler Introduces New Fragrance: Womanity

I will admit that I've been slightly swamped as of late (already slightly is an understatement; I'm swamped) and I didn't even get a chance to attend the actual launch event the brand invited me to last month. However, I was sure to request a bottle so I could check it out and then it stayed right there in the box on my dresser until yesterday. It was pretty late and I'd just finished brainstorming some more beauty post ideas for Glamour.com, when I decided that a good spritz of fragrance would provide the pick-me-up I needed.
My eyes went to SJPNYC (Sarah Jessica Parker's newest fragrance) because it makes me feel all Sex And The Cityish (yes, sometimes I pretend that I'm Carrie Bradshaw..don't judge me) but then I opened up the pink box of Womanity instead.
And wowza! This stuff is amazing, Glamazons. First off, let's talk about the packaging. There may be light pink liquid inside, but it looks very strong; almost like an Amazonian-totem-pole-statuette-thingie wouldn't you say?
Thierry Mugler said that he designed the bottle to look this way because "it is designed for a woman who leaves her mark; like a woman who would have her statue made." However, he said that he created it with practicality in mind. "This is very important for me and for women in terms of their everyday lives," he said.
Now, let's get into the actual fragrance. The cool part about this stuff is that it contains the strangest ingredients. It opens with a note of fig, then there are notes of caviar and somehow it manages to get all woodsy with some fig wood and leaf. See? Doesn't sound too enticing, right? But that Mugler is some kind of fragrance genius in that he got the combination just right so it smells sweet, spicy and dries down to some serious sexy.
Now it's your turn to try it! Womanity will be available for purchase at Bloomingdale's next week (August 2010) and Nordstrom as well as http://us.boutique.thierrymugler.com by October 2010.
Prices range from $98 (for 2.7 oz) to $58 (for 1.0 fl oz). There's also a shower gel ($40); body milk ($45); body cream ($55); and 1.7 oz refill bottle ($58).
Let us know what you think of it once you nab your own bottle!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kim Cattrall Gives Us Old Hollywood in Thierry Mugler at the Sex and the City II UK Premiere
Kim Cattrall is the quintessential screen siren at Sex and the City II's UK premiere.
The actress wore a vintage Thierry Mugler corseted wrap gown, accented with a colorful Fred Leighton brooch.
The neckline, in which one bust is purposely higher than the other, is delightfully elegant and regal. And the draping elongates Kim's gorgeous figure. Her drop diamond earrings and bracelets made the look even more glamorous.
Cattrall's hair and makeup completed the Old Hollywood Glam look with sultry, marcel waves, full lashes and soft pink lips.
What do you think of Kim Cattrall's sophisticated look at the London premiere? Is it GLAM or just a SHAM?

Beyonce X Thierry Mugler Experience

One make-up application and anxious cab ride later, I was sitting on the floor (!) one section from the stage sipping a beer and anticipating the show-shopping spectacle that is the B experience. And Queen B did not disappoint the throngs of divas who filled NYC's famed Madison Square Garden.
Beyonce' flipped, flew, twirled, shimmied and sashayed for what was one of the most exhilarating concerts I've seen since Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope tour. But as I'm chatting with the ex-EIC of Giant Magazine, Emil Wilbekin (love him!), I realize that the Thierry Mugler designed costumes are way more exciting than the actual show. Wait, don't stop reading. Stay with me. Here's why.
The French designer's couture creations are the stuff of legend: otherworldly, dramatic silhouettes and extravagant embellishments inspired by everything from the insect kingdom to cartoon heroines. Impossibly tiny waists, exaggerated hips, shoulder pads and overstated collars are all a part of his signature style.
But sadly the curtain closed on Thierry Mugler's theatrical designs when the house shut its couture division in 2003 (and he focused his energy toward perfumes). Though it reopened for a Winter 2008 collection, Thierry Mugler's "Sasha Warrior" designs for Beyonce' mark a return to fashion...and maybe, the comeback the fashion world has been buzzing about. Even if Mugler's couture creations don't go further than this tour, they still mark the marriage of our favorite pop goddess and a legendary, hyper-creative designer. Take a glimpse at their love child, the costumes, onstage below. Fierceness, indeed!

Beyonce's elegant white leotard and flowing hooded jacket for "Brokenhearted Girl." How she managed to stay in pumps all night, I'll never understand!

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. Beyonce's dancers are transforming her leotard into a wedding gown for her gorgeous rendition of "Ave Maria." She's such an over-the-top pageant queen...and I LOVE it!

A blurry picture (sorry, we were dancing) of Thierry Mugler's masterpiece! A vampy, superwoman costume, complete with fading fishnet tights and floorlength leather!
::Gasps:: The dramatic exaggerated shoulders! I'm dying!
Her costume for "Like a Boy": The aviators and leather dominatrix get-up? Cross-dressing at it's best.

OMG! Futuristic B in a metal jumpsuit with leather cut-outs!! If there was a comic book for divas and trannies, she'd SO be the super-heroine!

Miss Bey served up the glitz and glam in a metallic corset while performing "Baby Boy"---suspended in the air! So fab.

Love it! I feel inspired to put on these costumes and strut down Broadway to the nearest ball competition. The divas needed a new leader and a Thierry Mugler-clad Beyonce is it.
Tell me Glamazons: What's your favorite costume? And for those who saw the show, what moment did you love the most?! Oh and for fun, guess what my favorite costume is! Hint for faithful Glam readers: it has EVERYTHING to do with the eye make-up for my Halloween costume =)
