TRY THIS: Maybelline Fit Me! Collection

While normal people hole up in their apartments on snow days and watch movies and do other domesticated things like say cook and clean, I play with makeup. I know, sounds really strange (especially when you see that I store the stuff in my kitchen cabinets, too) but it's really not that crazy of a thing especially when you consider the fact that I've already professed my beauty junkie habits several times before on this blog. Plus, you (as the reader) totally benefit from it in that you get to find out what I think about each of the products.

With that said, let me tell you about a pretty awesome collection that came my way last week: Maybelline's Fit Me! Collection. Side note: It was KIND of amazing that I received these products because I totally wrote about it here last year and I've been itching to get my hands on the stuff ever since! This is the first drugstore brand foundation, powder and concealer that I've found actually melts into my skin just like a prestige brand! There are 18 shades of foundation and powder, 6 shades of concealer, 12 shades of blush and 3 shades of bronzer so there's no way that you won't find the perfect shade for you. Here's a breakdown of each product in the line:

Fit Me! Foundation has a translucent base mixed with lightweight pigments that allow the foundation to give an excellent replication of the shade on the skin. (All of this according to the press release of course.) My take on it? It's super creamy yet very light and is the perfect non-foundation foundation. (You know, so you can create that whole "I'm not really wearing makeup" look.) It contains SPF 18 and retails for $7.99.

Fit Me! Powder is (yep! you guessed it!) also lightweight and blendable and leaves a non-cakey finish. Each of its 18 shades corresponds perfectly with the FIT ME! Foundation. ($7.99)

Fit Me! Concealer also contains the same formulation as the foundation to conceal imperfections without hiding skins natural imperfections. Translation from the press release: this stuff goes on smooth and doesn't do those other weird things that most drug store concealers do like just sit on top of whatever zit or pimple you're trying to conceal. ($6.49)

Fit Me! Blush features a silky, soft texture for easy blending and contains a soft, lasting fade-free natural color. Now, you know that as much as I abhor blush, I've been wearing it a bit more often than usual. So, even though I totally didn't want to put this stuff on, I did and was pleasantly surprised to see that it melded right into my skin without looking clownish. Amaze! ($5.51)

The best part about all of these products is not just how they look on you, but how they look in the stores. The stands in the drugstore contain what's called the "Fit Finder" tool making it super easy to find the right shades for you. Also, they each have numbers on them so if you're a 220 in foundation, then you're also a 220 in powder and concealer.

All of these products are available for purchase now at a drugstore near you, so you should probably go get your own set and test 'em out for yourselves! (Don't worry, you can thank me for the recommendation later.)

Maybelline Launches New Collection Called 'Fit Me'

As if being the official cosmetics sponsors of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (shows start this week! Eeek!) Maybelline is launching a new collection called Fit Me.
According to WWD, the four-product face line was created to offer a newer take on the "shade true" category and will include a foundation, powder, concealer, blush and three bronzers.
All products in the line utilize "skin merge technology" which is just a fancy way of saying that it promises to match skin tone and blend in easily.
The foundations all include SPF 18 and are numbered accordingly to match the powders so it will be easier to find your shade while shopping at the drugstore. Both powders and foundations will retail for $7.99; concealer for $6.49 and blush and bronzers for $5.51 each.
Hmmm...I haven't gotten my hands on any of the products yet Glamazons but this seems like it should be interesting. As far as drugstore beauty goes, I don't really wear Maybelline's foundations but I will rock the heck out of their mascaras and lip glosses. However, I'm willing to give this new stuff a shot. No word as to when the collection will hit stores (has anyone seen it yet?!) but I just wanted to call your attention to it so it will be on your beauty radars.

Get Into These Fab New Skincare Products From Garnier!!

When it comes to drugstore beauty, I'm a beast. I think it may have something to do with the fact that they're so darned cheap, but I can honestly (and happily!) say that Garnier Nutritioniste has hit the skincare jackpot with these glamazing new products...and I feel like it's my beauty duty to tell you all about my faves. Check 'em out below:

You know how sometimes you need a lot of moisture on your face but can't stand the idea of wearing something heavy? Well, then the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream is perfect for you! Seriously, it's the best light green gel ever. The formula is oil-free (so no grease!) and locks in moisture instantly. Also, the stuff lasts all day so you don't have to worry about re-applying; which is great if you have super dry skin.

If you're worried about having some SPF protection (which you totally should be!) then you should follow up with the Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion. It has SPF 15 built in and is probably the best smelling drugstore brand of face cream that I've ever worn. ('Cause you know most drugstore skincare products that contain SPF don't exactly smell the best.) Also, it stays right in line with the whole super lightweight formula idea.

And (because I'm always trying to disguise my bags and sags) I've fallen in love with the Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream. It's the first skincare product I've seen that contains a Pro-Retinol formula that doesn't burn the crap out of your skin upon application. (Yeah, thank goodness for Retinol, but too much of it on my skin causes serious irritation. Not fun.) This stuff is super gentle and perfect for your eye area. I've been applying it non-stop for the past couple of weeks and it provides the best hydration. (I have to keep my under eye area moisturized because it tends to get dry sometimes.)

Alright, so they're all super cheap (from $7.99 to $14.99) so you have no excuse not to get to your local drugstore and snap these up. I promise that you won't be dismayed once you try 'em!

Genie In A Bottle: New Nail Polishes from Sally Hansen

When I said before that I was going to try really hard not to spend any more money than I had to, this would include cutting out my weekly mani/pedi sessions. So hard because I'm the WORST when it comes to painting my own nails and having them look somewhat decent. With that said, I was beyond estastic to get a polish that actually works for me and my somewhat decrepit methods of applying the polish. An added bonus? It's super cheap [$6.99!] and can be found right around the corner at your local drugstore. I'm talking about none other than the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure that features all five steps of a professional manicure in one. [Yes, you read that correctly. All five steps: base coat, growth treatment, strengthener, color and top coat.] It also contains a special wide, tapered brush that gives you the perfect application every time. I even used it in the back of a moving vehicle to paint my nails and it worked just fine. In fact, when I got to the event, everyone kept asking who did my nails...if only they knew. The polishes are also chip resistant and lasted me for about two weeks. In 42 magical shades, you'll be sure to find the right hue for you. [That's my favorite shade pictured above: Commander in Chic. I'm a lover of all things black and, since it's spring, I wanted to lighten up. So, essentially grey is the new black for spring.]

Another fab new fave from Sally Hansen that I must mention to you as well would be the Color Quick Chrome Nail Color Pens. Side note: I probably should have been using this instead of the actual nail polish while riding in a car, but I didn't. However, I do have it in a bag and have used it on the train for an occasional touch up. It's a cute pen that's easy to hold and the brush makes it easy to dispense just the right amount of color. I was so happy to see that it doesn't come out all gloppy and messy and the 8 molten metal shades that it comes in aren't streaky. The formula also contains Panthenol, Vitamin A, C and E as well as a UV protector to keep your color fresh. Genius! That's my fave shade above: Silver Chrome. These cute pens are $7.95 and can also be found at your local drugstore.
Test them out and be sure to let me know what you think!
