Jennifer Lopez Nabs L'Oreal Spokesperson Deal

From designing children's clothing for Kohl's to modeling for Gucci ads to creating some of the top selling fragrances of our generation is there anything that Jennifer Lopez can't do?! (Oh, wait..there is: singing. But we won't talk about that...smh.)
Although the music industry may be one spot she just can't seem to dominate, you have to give it to her: she's definitely business-saavy. I mean, how else would one gain a L'Oreal spokesperson contract?! And not just any contract, mind you: a multimillion- dollar contract.
J. Lo (a name she ditched long ago but I still like to use tee hee hee) is the newest global brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris, which includes brands such as EverPure hair care, Preference hair color and Youth Code skin care. She joins the ranks of other celeb L'Oreal spokesmodels that include Beyonce, Eva Longoria Parker, Diane Keaton and Keri Washington.
Jennifer's debut TV ad will air Jan. 16, 2011 during the Golden Globes for EverSleek, a new range of hair products in the Ever franchise designed to smooth unruly, frizzy hair.
One of the new products from the L'Oreal EverSleek Line

According to an article in WWD, L'Oreal plans on tackling a new take on advertising by making their ads more "intimate and conversational."
Cyril Chapuy, global brand president for L'Oreal Paris, was quoted in the article as saying that the script for the new ads were written with J. Lo in mind.
"It was designed for Jennifer's personality," Cyril said. "She is the one speaking directly to the camera, there is no voice-over and she speaks in her own words."
He also went on to add that "the look of the styling and set was also defined especially for her..[which] had a very intense energy."
Hmmm...it could be that J.Lo had all these demands and the brand just rolled along with it. Or maybe I'm wrong and they really wanted to make the ads all about her? Either way, I can't wait to see them.
And this won't be the last we see of J.Lo anytime soon! She's been named one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" (interview airs at 10 p.m. EST, Dec. 9 on ABC) and has plans to launch a new album in 2011 called "Love."

Hey, you gotta respect this woman's hustle, right?! Who else is excited to see her new ads?

Breaking Beauty News: Beyonce Launching New Fragrance, Heat Rush

So, remember when we told you that Beyonce was launching a second fragrance?! Well, the news is true, Glamazons! Coty just announced to Women's Wear Daily plans to launch a new juice from the songtress called 'Heat Rush' by February 2011.
Hmmm...seems like she's really running with this whole 'heated' theme. Although I personally think that the first fragrance 'Heat' is a mess (to me it smells like something your old auntie would wear...ew) I've got high hopes that this one will be better.
According to today's WWD, the scent contains top notes of passion fruit sorbet; blood orange and Brazilian cherry; a heart of yellow tiger orchid, mango blossom and orange hibiscus, and a drydown of teak wood, honey amber and Rio sunset musk. Mmmm! Doesn't that just read heavenly?! I sure hope that it smells so. From the looks of it, this one will be a bit lighter and not as musky smelling as the first one.
'Heat Rush' is set to hit a Macy's department store near you and prices range from $59 for 3.4 oz to $24 for 0.5 oz. There are also plans to launch a matching shimmering body cream ($24) and shower gel ($24).
What do you think, Glamazons? And, be honest, would you really purchase this fragrance if Beyonce didn't create it?!

Lady Gaga Inks Deal With Coty To Create Her Own Fragrances!

You know those rumors that have been milling around about Lady Gaga possibly creating her own fragrance? Well, they're true! According to WWD, the pop star has signed a long term fragrance deal with Coty, Inc. to create fragrances under her name.
Coutura and I were at Lincoln Center and heard about the news right after attending the Tracy Reese show. (More on that in a bit!) Of course, you know that we squealed with glee being that we're like, in love with Gaga. (But not in a sick-stalker-Stan sorta way; more like in an admiration-proud kinda way..if that makes any sense.)
Anyways, Coty finally spilled the fragrance beans to WWD and said that Gaga's first women's scent is slated to launch by Spring 2012. Kinda sucks that we'll have to wait soooo loooong to get our hands on the stuff, but we're just glad to see that she got the ball rolling on creating fragrances.
Any guesses as to what she'll name it? She's so eclectic that I honestly have no clue as to what she'll come up with. I mean, anyone who wears a bikini made out of raw meat is liable to come up with anything. Just as long as it smells better than Beyonce's first fragrance, Heat, than I'll be ok with it. (I'm still convinced that Bey's fragrance smells like something my great auntie would wear. Ew.)

Maybelline Launches New Collection Called 'Fit Me'

As if being the official cosmetics sponsors of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (shows start this week! Eeek!) Maybelline is launching a new collection called Fit Me.
According to WWD, the four-product face line was created to offer a newer take on the "shade true" category and will include a foundation, powder, concealer, blush and three bronzers.
All products in the line utilize "skin merge technology" which is just a fancy way of saying that it promises to match skin tone and blend in easily.
The foundations all include SPF 18 and are numbered accordingly to match the powders so it will be easier to find your shade while shopping at the drugstore. Both powders and foundations will retail for $7.99; concealer for $6.49 and blush and bronzers for $5.51 each.
Hmmm...I haven't gotten my hands on any of the products yet Glamazons but this seems like it should be interesting. As far as drugstore beauty goes, I don't really wear Maybelline's foundations but I will rock the heck out of their mascaras and lip glosses. However, I'm willing to give this new stuff a shot. No word as to when the collection will hit stores (has anyone seen it yet?!) but I just wanted to call your attention to it so it will be on your beauty radars.

Eva Longoria Launches Fragrance in London; Promises It Will Please Peeps Who Are "Allergic" To Perfumes

Actress Eva Longoria was recently snapped Sunday at The Perfume Shop in London as part of the official launch of her new signature fragrance Eva by Eva Longoria.
Last year, Longoria had this to say to WWD about why her fragrance was so darned special:
"I have always been somewhat allergic to all perfumes and really wanted to create something that every woman could wear. So, I decided to create my own fragrance that is light, fresh and unique. I think the scent of a woman is extremely sexy and this scent will prove that."
Um, so if you're really "allergic" to perfumes, shouldn't you just avoid them all-together?! Isn't it like false advertising to say that every woman can wear this new fragrance if you're truly allergic to fragrance?
Yes, Glamazons, I have seriously sat here and analyzed this. And I'm pretty sure that what the lovely Longoria meant when she said "allergic to perfumes" is that this is for those woman that can't stand the smell of cheap, overbearing liquids that other celebrities sometimes launch. (Ahem, Beyonce. Sorry guys but I still stand by my opinion that her first fragrance Heat smells cheap..and horrible. Hopefully her next one will be much better!)
Anywhoo, back to Longoria: apparently the actress was extremely involved in the making of it so that should be a good sign, right? It features top notes of citrus, neroli, bergamot tea and aldehydes. The heart of the fragrance includes sheer jasmine, muguet, violet and freesia with a drydown of skin musk, amber and sandalwood. The bottle was designed to resemble a "female silhouette."
Here's what the ads will look like:

It sounds like it will smell very light and pretty, but I'll hold judgement on it until I smell it for myself. The fragrance is slated to hit the U.S. by April2011 and will be available in stores such as Macy's and Dilliard's.
In the meantime don't you think that Longoria looks like Victoria Beckham's little mini-me in that beige dress (which just so happens to be a Victoria Beckham design) and matching Louboutins?! She looks gorge (per usual) but I really do wish that she'd develop her own style and run with it.
What do you think Glamazons? Also, who plans on buying the fragrance when it hits the U.S.?

Betsey Johnson Announces Plans To Launch A Second Fragrance...and Makeup!

Let me start this post off by telling you that I love, love, me some Betsey Johnson! From the clothes she designs to the consistent energy she conveys, I think she's such a fab inspiration.
While I was toiling away at WWD as a beauty writing intern (i.e. still one of the best jobs I've ever had!) about four years ago, I was asked to interview her at the launch of her first signature fragrance. (That's us pictured above..please don't judge my physical appearance..I was a hot mess back then hahaha)
She was super gracious, kind and funny and (even though she wears crazy colored outfits and her hair in pigtails sometimes) very level-headed. So, how excited was I to see that the fashion designer has signed a seven-year contract with Inter Parfums, Inc. to create fragrances, personal care products and color cosmetics?! (Beyond excited since I'm obvs a fan...duh.)
Although sales for this fragrance tanked, she's ready to get back into the saddle by launching a new one next month.
"I think that after some kind of clothing existence, a designer needs a fragrance," she told WWD. "It's just like you have dessert after dinner."
The unnamed fragrance will be a modern interpretation of the first fragrance she created in 1982. No other details about the fragrance have been released, other than her stating that "it aint gonna be au naturel, sweet, foodlike-like chocolate-[or] patchouli."
Also unknown to many, Johnson created a small color cosmetics collection back in the eighties which included red and hot pink lip and nail polish.
"I grew up in heavy stage makeup because I studied dancing with a brilliant Broadway showgirl," she told WWD. "So I love makeup. For a designer, makeup is part of everything your customer wears, ideally, from head to toe."
Much like her recent Fall 2010 show, I'm sure that her upcoming fragrance and cosmetics collection will be fun and full of color.

Who's Fragrance Do You Think Will Be Hotter? Halle Berry or Jennifer Lopez?

They may both be extremely attractive Hollywood mom's, but that's just about where the similarities end.
According to today's issue of Women's Wear Daily, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez are both set to launch new fragrances soon! Here's the scoop:

'Reveal' by Halle Berry
Her third fragrance, Berry tells WWD that this fragrance will be more like an open book based on her experiences as a mom.
"I'm a mother now, and when you become a parent, you just look at the world differently," she said in an interview with WWD. "[Motherhood] challenges me and makes me question myself and who I really am all the time. So for this [fragrance and campaign] to come along at this time in life just seemed kind of like it goes together. This is a part of expressing who I really am - for the good and the bad, it's about being comfortable with myself as a woman, and sharing secret parts of myself."
Noting that she wanted to this fragrance to be "easy, floral and wearable," Berry even tells of going to the drug store and purchasing her previous fragrance because she loves it that much.
'Reveal' contains top notes of Berry's fave flower (mimosa), peach, honeydew, melon and red berries; a heart of plumeria flower, iris blossom and neroli petals and a base of vetiver, cashmere woods and skin musk. It comes in three sizes: 0.5 oz ($17); 1 oz ($35) and 1.7 oz ($35).
Even though the fragrance hits stores August 2010, she's currently working on a fourth fragrance and also revealed that she's set to travel to South Africa this month and July to film a movie and will start filming the comedy "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" this fall.

'Love and Glamour' by Jennifer Lopez
This will be Lopez's 16th fragrance (she's already sold more than $1 billion worth of fragrance!) so obviously this woman knows her stuff when it comes to creating a juice that sells.
The singer/actress told WWD that she sometimes drives the fragrance creators at Coty "a little bit crazy" when it comes to creating her fragrance.
"You always want to create something signature - that's always kind of what I'm pushing for when working with Coty," she told WWD. "You want it to be a combination that people have never smelled before. It's always an exciting time, because the sky's the limit and it can go in any direction. What I always like to do is look at where I am in life at the moment. [Here] it was right after the babies and was when I was getting back to work and getting back to what I do again. It just felt like a time of a lot of love and that seemed very romantic to me - I said it seems like love and glamour. As a name, 'Love and Glamour' seemed like a really aspirational, fun and beautiful thing that we could work with in many, many ways."
'Love and Glamour' contains top notes of Italian mandarin, guava and nectarine pulp; a heart of water lily, coconut orchid, orange flower absolute and jasmine petals, and a drydown of sandalwood, sensual musk and amber. It comes in two sizes: 1.7 oz ($49.50); 2.5 oz ($58) and a body lotion for $27.50. The fragrance will launch October 2010 at Macy's.
Lopez also told WWD that she may finally try her hand at creating a cosmetics or skin care line because it's "really important" to her. (I'm sure she'll come up with a smokey eye palette to die for!) Never one to slow down, she's making major moves with her apparel line, working on a new album and developing tree film projects. (Can we say "Super Mom?!")

So there you have it, Glamazons. Who do you think will have the better fragrance? (My vote is for Lopez's 'Love and Glamour' lol)
