Saks Fifth Avenue Will Carry Plus-Size Chanel, YSL, Valentino...No, Seriously...

The high-end designer brands that could previously only fit mannequins, and other petite specimens, will now be available in larger sizes at Saks Fifth Avenue, according to Racked.com.

Expect to see designs by Chanel, YSL, Dolce & Gabbbana, Akris, Carolina Herrera, Escada, St. John, Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, Max Mara, YSL, Fendi, Roberto Cavalli, Alexander McQueen, Michael Kors and Valentino in...wait for it...wait for it...a size 10! and maybe some 14's! a few 16's!

Even some select designers will stock pieces in sizes up to 20!

Sounds too good to be true? Well, the downside is the quantity, or lack of, as they'll only stock one of each size for certain pieces.

Still, it is a baby step in the right direction.

Will you shop the new plus-size section of Saks?

Devotion.

One of the things I find most inspiring is the concepts of shrines. In fact this idea, spurred the whole of my final collection at university. The idea of people worshiping a god/gods through this allegorical gateway, fascinates me. The style that each different religion adopts through it's shrines is something that could only be created with such a manner of adherence and devotion.

Spending the last few months in Asia, I have seen some kitsch and fun shrines, which had to be marvelled!

Graduate Talent.

All the way back in Febuary at the Moda Lingerie and Swimwear show, the work of Phoebe Burgess caught my eye. Flicking through the pages of the De Montfort University Fashion Contour inventory, I saw her talented work and wanted to know more.

The inspiration for her collection came from origami and puzzles, looking at
Hussein Chalayan for inspiration on new ways to include shapes on the body, and this formed the basis to her collection.

I asked Phoebe if there were any particular provocations in creating a contour based collection.

"The challenge you face from doing contour over outerwear is that the fit must be perfect, if any measurement is at least a millimetre out then everything can look wrong. sometimes with outerwear you can wing it if the measurements don't add up."

Phoebe is currently working hard to save money in order to set up her own business, and has been shown a lot of interest from her collection.

Keep your eyes on this talent, as Phoebe is already mid-way through her next collection!

Nine West Inks Fragrance Deal

In the latest news of clothing-retailers-selling-things-other-than-clothes is that Nine West will soon sell their own set of fragrances. (So, I guess that means that this is more like shoe-retailers-selling-things-other-than-shoes, right?!)
No news yet on what the fragrances will smell like (hopefully nothing like shoes or anything boring like that), but they're set to launch next fall in select department stores, specialty retailers and (of course) Nine West stores.
Hmmm....I'm wondering what would posses the retailer to sale fragrance? Why not something like foot lotion? But, I guess if Payless ShoeSource can sell cosmetics, then there's no real rules left as to what any store can sell nowadays.

London Design Museum Goodies

I'm a complete sap for museum gift shops. I often visit the gift shop before entering the museum. One of my favorite museum gift shops is the Design Museum in London, where a veritable treasure trove of artistic books, posters, and knick knacks can be found. Here are a few samples of the goodies currently for sale:

"This is London" vintage children's book. The book may be geared toward children, but who doesn't love bold, vintage photos of one's favorite city?

Hussein Chalayan poster. Imagine how this artwork could brighten the walls of your home office!

A book of 100 post cards of different Penguin book covers- perfect for your literary best friend.

Psychogames- the board game that allows any family member to play Freud at the next gathering. Perfect conversation-starters for Thanksgiving!

The Design Museum Birdie Badge. What a wonderful way to show your loyalty to the Design Museum while making a fun fashion statement at the same time! At only 2.50 GBP, it's hard to pass up.

The "I'm from here" t-shirt is ideal for your best Aussie pal.

Check out the Design Museum's gift shop website at http://designmuseumshop.com/ for more fantastic artistic gifts.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Man Capris (Starring Chris Brown)

We've seen mandals, murses, even manties (recently on Diddy) but have capris ventured into testosterone territory as well? I'm afraid, the answer is yes.

Chris Brown was spotted showing off his ankles and calves onstage with Usher at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica over the weekend.

Is this a fashion don't?

Some women don't even look right in capris. They cut off legs instead of elongating them (the trick to alleviating this problem? heels). That said, capris certainly can't be figure-flattering to men in flats.

Are you against man capris? Do they look flattering on Chris? Would you wear them (or be seen outside with a man that's wearing them)?

Discuss.

The Shanghai Triad Tattoo

Dear Avid Readers. This blog is mostly for all the men in my family...namely, the Shanghai Triad. Recently, I came upon a trend that reminded so much of Yours Truly's male family members that I have decided to dedicate an entire post to that trend, I believe, got started by the Shanghai Triad. Before I get too much into it, let me preface it by saying that many, many moons ago, the boys of the Shanghai Triad grew out there hair and all got tattoos.
Well, shortly after they decided to do this one member of the Shanghai Triad decided to get hitched. The day of the wedding came, binaca was sprayed, bouquets were thrown and mustaches were drawn. It was an amazing day. Well, little did Yours Truly expect it, then, but a short few years later a new trend has spread that is the birth of the combination of the Shanghai Triad's Genius. I call it The MUSTACHE TATTOO!
The Extreme Curl. This is the curl for someone with something to prove. Either way for an in-depth look at this sweeping trend from one of the highest, and most decorated news sources please watch what I call "The Sweep of the Tattooed 'Stache"
Please enjoy. I love you Shanghai Triad.
