The Man That Made The Red Dress
I've been on spring break this week, so I've had more free time then I'm used to. I decided to finally finish watching the documentary on Valentino Garavani. The movie is called Valentino The Last Emperor, and it is most definitely a fitting title. The man did wonders in the fashion world, and his designs are breathtaking. I'm an absolute fashion fanatic, and I love watching movies on designers, fashion icons, and fashion reality shows. I've also spent time reading about the beautiful Audrey Hepburn, and the iconic Coco Chanel. I thought it would be only fitting to learn more about the famous Italian designer, Valentino. The movie documents his last year as a designer before he finally retired. My favorite part of the movie was getting to see his 45th anniversary (as a designer) party. It was absolutely magnificent. His designs were hanging on the walls on mannequins, or set up around the party. So many fabulously fashionable people came to congratulate the man on his wonderful and life's work. The party was held in Rome, and at the end of it there was a show with the Coliseum as the backdrop. It was lit up as red, and models floated around like acrobats wearing Valentino's designs. It was breathtaking. If you have not seen this movie, and you are a lover of fashion, I highly recommend it.
