Julianne Hough Shares Her Skincare Woes (And Yes She Really Does Use ProActiv!)

You know, it's one thing to sign a contract that says you're going to endorse a product and it's another to not only endorse but USE the product that you're supposedly endorsing! While some of you may be scratching your heads and going "What in the heck is Ferocia talking about?!" let me clarify by saying what I said above makes perfect sense; AND that Julianne Hough, Proactiv spokesperson really actually uses the products! (Hence she has that amazing skin!)

How do I know? Well, only because I sat down and listened to her talk about it! Myself (along with a gaggle of other bloggers and editors) were invited to have a little chit-chat with the Dancing With The Stars dancer (which basically means you're allowed to ask her anything!) While I do admit that I'm not like a huge fan of Julianne, I did love her outfit, sweet disposition and that super cute dog of hers! (Outfit consisted of a David Meister dress and Salvatore Ferragamo heels and dog is a cavalier king charles named Lexi.)

One of the first things out of Julianne's mouth is that she's always had an ongoing battle with acne.

"I felt like everyone was looking at my zits, not looking at my eyes so it hurt my self esteem a little bit," she said.

Julianne described how her lifestyle of sweating up a storm while dancing and wearing a ton of makeup made her adapt a strict cleansing routine to clear her skin. She also said that getting in the routine of using Proactiv daily helped her to effectively get rid of her acne. (Can you even believe that she called the company herself to tell them that the stuff really works and thank them?!)

She uses the three step regimen from Proactiv daily but her favorite product is the Refining Mask (which also happens to be mine as well!) And I can't forget that she also loves the Makeup Wipes, which is another of my faves. (Can you tell that Julianne and I have sooo much in common?! hahaha)

What do you think of the Proactiv product line? Anyone else out there swear by it like Julianne and all of the other spokespeople do?!

BREAKING BEAUTY NEWS: Jennifer Lopez Becomes The First Gillette Venus Global Ambassador + Watch Her New Commercial!

American Idol judge, L'Oreal Paris spokesperson and now Gillette Venus Global Ambassador?! We're sure that Kim Kardashian is somewhere writhing with anger now that Jennifer Lopez is beating her in beauty endorsements hahaha.
Gillette Venus has tapped J.Lo to become their first ever Global Brand Ambassador. While I can't remember the last celebrity spokesperson this brand had (I'm pretty sure they did something with Rihanna as evidenced by the photo below) this sounds like a pretty cool gig that the Jennifer has nabbed.

As part of the partnership, Jennifer revealed a new rendition of the iconic song "Venus" (and no I'm not really interested in hearing her sing so I have no clue as to how it sounds but you can click here to listen to it) as well as launched the Venus Goddess Fund For Education. This fund is a new global cause that will help support female empowerment through education.
Because Jennifer believes that "there's a Goddess in every woman," she's encouraging all to "get your Goddess showing" by logging onto the Venus website to share your stories. $1 will be donated to the Venus Goddess Fund For Education for each story shared.

On the site, you'll see Jennifer posing in a silver mini dress (photoshopped within an inch of her life, of course) along with this quote: "Goddess is one part inner beauty. One part outer beauty. And one part 5-inch heels."
Um....yeah.....
Beginning next month, you'll see J.Lo in print and TV ads for the brand representing a variety of Venus products, including a new ProSkin razor that launches this month. Check out her first TV ad below. I must say that I DO actually like the commercial. The part at the end where she's playing on the beach with her twins is so adorbs!

What do you think of this news, Glamazons? Do you think J. Lo should continue her domination in the world of beauty brands? Who would you like to see her sign with next?!

BEAUTY NEWS: Swarovski and Clarins Team Up For New Fragrance

Do you remember in the early 2000's when there was nothing on this side of heaven that wasn’t blinged out: dresses, clutches, jewelry, hand cream, vajazzle… you name it! And the leader in quality blingery (Yes, I’m making up words!) was none other than luxe Swarovski brand. Well, in addition to mastering the art of precisely-cut crystal glass, Swarovski is teaming with Clarins Fragrance Group to create a new scent.

Aura by Swarovski, is inspired by the “grace and magnetism of light,” and of course, crystals. The juice will be a warm fruity floral with fragrance notes of amber, white musk, bezoin resin, lychee, tuberose and pink pepper.

"Aura is the perfect visual expression for the soul of crystal," said Swarovski's Markus Langes-Swarovski.

The bottle's design is a combination of a glass tube with a metal lid in the shape of an asymmetric crystal and the liquid inside is pink. Very chic!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Swarovski announced the Make-Up Jewels collection, which is three pendants with crystal-infused makeup inside. Two of the pendants contain lip gloss Crystal Gloss, and the third one carries the shimmering Crystal Touch balm that can be used on the face and along the neckline. ($74 to $85)!

Aura will be available exclusively at Selfridges in the UK, and will debut in the US next year.

Call me a skeptic, but even though I like the look of fine crystal it baffles me to think of how I would interpret it as a scent, and fruity and florally just doesn’t strike me as the personification of crystal. Either way, if this perfume smells divine, then my take on how crystal should smell won’t really matter!

Glamazons, are you looking forward to this new fragrance? Do you like the thought of spritzing bottled bling on yourselves?

Ciao Bellas!

TRY THIS: Ferocia (Finally!) Gets Her Hands On The MAC Wonder Woman Collection!

Since I first heard the first whisperings of a MAC Wonder Woman collection backstage during Fashion Week last year, I've been on pins and needles as to whether it would really come to fruition. I mean, I've only been a fan of Wonder Woman since the age of 3.
Side note: I won't even tell you guys the story about how I once tried to be her and threw myself down the stairs thinking I was actually going to glide. Yeah, to say that didn't end so well is a serious understatement. Geez.
After reading the official announcement in WWD, I squealed with glee, wrote up the news here for you guys to read and waited for that black box of products from the brand to arrive for me to review. Lucky for me (and the rest of the beauty blogging/editorial world) the brand decided to not only send us products, but to hold a special event to give us all of the deets on the collection. Nevermind the fact that it had snowed 8 inches the night before and the streets were a mess, I work up extra early the day of the event and trudged downtown in my silver Hunter rain boots to the amazing MAC pop-up store where all the action was taking place.

I was greeted by super tall models at the door in superhero outfits and Wonder Woman comic books lined the shelves along the walls. There was red, white and blue everywhere and fun, empowering music playing (think Destiny's Child Survivor). MAC makeup artists were on hand to create fun looks using the new products (Romero Jennings took one look at me and immediately put on my new favorite gloss, Secret Identity. Love him!) If some of the products look like they've been injected with extra doses of steroids that's because they have! (I mean, who doesn't want an extra large size of LipGlass or Mineralize Skinfinish powder?!) According to the brand, the products were created larger than life to emphasize Wonder Woman's super hero strength.)

During the presentation, I learned that MAC worked very closely with DC Comics to come up with the names and packaging for the line. Also, regardless of whatever collection they create, MAC always makes sure that the shades are en vogue for the season.

According to Jennifer Balbier, Sr. Vice President of Product Development for MAC Worldwide, the shades in the collection consist of monochromatic blues and greens to stay on trend with the look of Spring 2011. (Gordon Espinet, VP of Global Makeup Artistry, MAC Worldwide shared that one of the big stand out trends for Spring 2011 is a "very early, very fresh '70s look."

"Think a shampoo commercial from 1972, or a Cheryl Tiegs or Farrah Fawcett type of girl. It's a very nude face with products that are used to sculpt, with hints of pop art colors and cool tones," he said. And, of course, that's like the epitome of the beauty look that Wonder Woman rocks.

Instead of models, MAC teamed up with a cartoonist to create a comic. In the story line, Wonder Woman defeats the evil Medusa and saves the women of the world from turning into Plain Janes. She uses the power of makeup to eliminate dullness and make the women of the world beautiful.

Let's fast forward to some of my fave products in the line now, shall we?

The absolute best accessory is this POW! ring we got in our goodie bags at the event. Want to know how you can win it? Here's how:

MAC has teamed up with Foursquare to create a program that debuts 2/8/2011 in seven countries. Wonder Woman will travel the globe in her ultra chic invisible jet and visit select MAC stores to leave gifts for her array of fans. You can keep track of Wonder Woman by visiting MAC's Facebook page via a dedicated Wonder Woman tab. This tab will feature details of the Foursquare program as well as a schedule of participating stores and countries. Upon checking in on Foursquare at one of the participating MAC locations, you'll receive a message on your mobile device that you should present to a MAC makeup artist. In turn, you'll receive a page of limited-edition Wonder Woman stickers. Select stickers will reveal a winner message (only 30 winners per store!) and an exclusive custom-made MAC Wonder Woman POW ring will be sent directly to the winner.

Whew! I know, a lot of info, but sounds like a really cool program, right?! And, um how AMAZING is this collection?! (You know it must be pretty great if I've taken the time to write a book about it hahaha)

TRY THIS: Shopbop.com's Sephora Collection Color Play 5-in-1 Palette

Hey Glamazons! You know, I have tons of makeup; and I'm not just telling you this to brag (ok, maybe I am just a little bit) but more so to emphasize the point that I'm definitely a palette type of gal. I don't know if it's because I'm always on the go or the fact that I just like compact things. Who doesn't want to have their eyeshadow, blush and lip gloss all in one place?!
The good folks over at Shopbop.com (a Glamazons Blog website fave!) must have been thinking the exact same thing when they decided to hook up with Sephora to create this limited edition makeup palette. The palette, which retails for $30 (a $125 value!), includes 5 interchangeable color palettes based off of the 5 looks from Shopbop.com's "Faces of Fashion" editorial look book. They include (from l to r):

-Boho Bombshell (dark blues, warm taupes, warm golds)
-Classics Never Die (brown smoky eyes)
-Angelic Boudoir (nudes, sands, with a touch of bright blue and fuschia)
-Black is the New Black (black smoky eyes)
-A Nod to Mod (bright blues, greens, pinks, purples)

Each color palette can be popped out and into the empty case on the left so that you can pop it into your clutch or purse. Love!

In addition, you can enter to win this really cool sweepstakes called the Faces of Fashion Sweepstakes. The prize? A year's supply of makeup from Sephora and a $2,500 shopping spree from Shopbop. You'd be crazy not to enter! Click here to get the rest of the deets.

In fitting fashionista form, my fave palette is 'Black is the New Black' (I could wear this every day!) but the others are fun to play with as well.

Once you nab yours, be sure to heed this 5 fab makeup tips from Sephora PRO Artist Julie Taing:

1. To create a quick, colorful smokey eye, apply the black matte shadow with a small shadow brush. Complete the fun, edgy look by putting any color of your choice on top.
2. Mix shimmer and matte shadows together to create dimension. Use the shimmer shadows towards the center of the eye and blend with matte shadows in the crease. Line the bottom lash line with a matte shadow for a more intense look.
3. Don't be scared to play with color! One easy trick to apply a natural color (shades of brown or black) all over the top lid with a medium shadow brush, stopping at the crease. Then, line your bottom lash line with a fun, bold color that accents your eye color. Gold shades look great with blue eyes, purple with green eyes and green tones accent brown eyes perfectly.
4. For a fun spring look, try a bold lip. Apply a sparkling eye shadow with your favorite vivid lip color such as raspberry and complement with a soft, natural cheek color.
5. This spring, it's all about a fresh, natural look. Try keeping your eye shadows basic with eye enhancing colors such as soft blues, brown and greens with a soft natural pink lip color. You can also try mixing the palette's peach tones blushes together for a soft, sun-kissed look.

GET THE LOOK: Mila Kunis' Sexy Smokey Eye At The 2011 People's Choice Awards

Hey Glamazons! If there's one thing in life that I love more than a relaxing mani/pedi sesh, it's a sexy smokey eye. Although I wasn't moved when spotting the usual celebrity culprits rocking the look on the red carpet of last night's People's Choice Awards (ahem Kim Kardashian...yawn...) I gasped when I noticed Mila Kunis' eye makeup looking like this.
Besides the fact that I've give my left big toe to have my very own pair of those thick, perfectly sculpted eyebrows (sigh) you must take note that this look is also a great date night look.
CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin gave us the scoop on how she created Mila's look:

"I wanted Mila's makeup to be sophisticated and sultry - like the soft lines and color of her dress. I accentuated her incredible eyes with a very soft earth-tone smoky eye. I started by blending CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Winter Nights and finishing it with CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Torrent (a khaki shimmer) on her upper eyelid. I blended a smokey quartz pencil along the inner bottom eye for a bit more intensity. I kept the rest of her face very understated with a soft peach cream blush and a flesh toned gloss, CHANEL Rouge Allure Gloss in Insouciance."

What do you think of this makeup look, Glamazons? And how many of you (like me!) plan on stealing it for yourselves?
