BREAKING BEAUTY NEWS: Jennifer Lopez Becomes The First Gillette Venus Global Ambassador + Watch Her New Commercial!

American Idol judge, L'Oreal Paris spokesperson and now Gillette Venus Global Ambassador?! We're sure that Kim Kardashian is somewhere writhing with anger now that Jennifer Lopez is beating her in beauty endorsements hahaha.
Gillette Venus has tapped J.Lo to become their first ever Global Brand Ambassador. While I can't remember the last celebrity spokesperson this brand had (I'm pretty sure they did something with Rihanna as evidenced by the photo below) this sounds like a pretty cool gig that the Jennifer has nabbed.

As part of the partnership, Jennifer revealed a new rendition of the iconic song "Venus" (and no I'm not really interested in hearing her sing so I have no clue as to how it sounds but you can click here to listen to it) as well as launched the Venus Goddess Fund For Education. This fund is a new global cause that will help support female empowerment through education.
Because Jennifer believes that "there's a Goddess in every woman," she's encouraging all to "get your Goddess showing" by logging onto the Venus website to share your stories. $1 will be donated to the Venus Goddess Fund For Education for each story shared.

On the site, you'll see Jennifer posing in a silver mini dress (photoshopped within an inch of her life, of course) along with this quote: "Goddess is one part inner beauty. One part outer beauty. And one part 5-inch heels."
Um....yeah.....
Beginning next month, you'll see J.Lo in print and TV ads for the brand representing a variety of Venus products, including a new ProSkin razor that launches this month. Check out her first TV ad below. I must say that I DO actually like the commercial. The part at the end where she's playing on the beach with her twins is so adorbs!

What do you think of this news, Glamazons? Do you think J. Lo should continue her domination in the world of beauty brands? Who would you like to see her sign with next?!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad at the 2011 Golden Globes

Few women move from sex kitten to demure goddess with as much ease as Jennifer Lopez. After giving us siren for New Year's Eve in metallic Herve Leger, the American Idol judge gave us angelic in a Zuhair Murad gown for the 2011 Golden Globes...a white silk chiffon sweetheart neckline draped front gown with crystal tulle capelet to be exact.

The singer, who has a new single coming out, complemented her ethereal dress with soft white and silver eyeshadow on her lids and killer lashes. The accessories gave even more sparkle with Christian Louboutin Marlena Strass pumps and a Swarovski clutch. A sleek ponytail kept the attention on the fashions. Gorg!

What do you think of her look, Glamazons? Glam or Sham?

Gwen Stefani Is New Face Of L'Oreal Paris!!

Um, how glamazing is is that one of my favorite singers and style idols Gwen Stefani is the new face of one of my fave beauty brands, L'Oreal?! I'm just like beyond and over Cloud 9 upon reading this news!
Her first campaign will be for Infalliable Le Rouge, a new collection of conditioning long wear lip color followed by Superior Preference hair color. Of course, it's only fitting that L'Oreal focus their branding upon two of Stefani's well-known assets: those red lips and platinum blond hair. LOVE. Stefani is just another platinum gilded rung on the ladder otherwise known as L'Oreal spokespersons. (Beyonce, Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington and Jennifer Lopez are just a few that make up the rest). What do you think of the news, Glamazons?!

#Best of 2010: 10 Most Memorable Beauty Moments

And just like that Glamazons, we're already on to a New Year! (2011..woo hoo!) I still can't even believe that 2010 is almost over! Can you?! I remember when it started and I swore up and down to myself that I was going to change up my hair color (yeah, it's still blonde, but I love it so!) and do more sophisticated things such as wear a new lipstick shade every day. And, in true New Year's resolution forms, I did either none of or some of the above for a couple of weeks before my attentions focused onto something else more important like figuring out to destroy Crow's Feet or elongating my lashes.
While there was no shortage of ideas running through my head, there were also several moments in which celebrities (and psuedocelebrities) must have been doing the same thing! ("Same thing" meaning that that they did some rather defining things this year in the world of beauty as well.) Let's have a look at them, shall we? Side note: I'm counting down backwards because it's so much more fun than going forwards, right? hahaha

#10. The smokey eye made a big comeback! OK, it never really went away, but we saw several various forms of it, some beautiful and others half psychotic looking.

Here's an example of what I mean by half psychotic crazy looking (ahem Taylor Momsen)

And here's a beautiful, breath-taking example worn by the queen of smokey eye herself, Kim Kardashian.

#9. Bubble gum pink isn't just for your nails anymore.

No matter what the skin tone (or age!) celebs were seen all over the red carpet rocking this super cute shade. I personally hate the color pink, but I couldn't help but to get swept up into the trend myself.

And then Nicki Minaj launched her very own shade with MAC Cosmetics (Pink Friday anyone?) and it quickly became one of my fave shades of lipsticks. So fun!

#8. Rihanna stunned us all by dying her hair color this flaming shade of red...and then commenced to go bananas with hairstyles by changing it from semi-shaved short to straight up short to long to dark brown (huh?) and back to short and red again.

We can't forget about this classic photo below RiRi tweeted of herself after burning her forehead with a curling iron. I can't tell you the number of times that I've done the same smh....

#7. The fashion world was shocked to see that GASP Naomi Campbell really is bald!

OH and Britney Spears still is, too. Weave can't always work wonders, ya know...

#6. While most of still aren't sure why Ke$ha thinks it's ok to strut around wearing blue makeup she apparently doesn't really care what others think. (I know this for a fact because she said so herself at a concert I attended of hers once.) From blue eye makeup to blue lips, this quickly became her signature shade (although I don't think it ever really caught on with the rest of the world, but that's ok, I guess).

#5. It seems as if 2010 was the official year to launch a celebrity fragrance which kind of either really got you excited or made you think this must be the latest ploy in celeb land to get people to pay attention to you.

Jennifer Aniston named hers Lolavie and during interviews wouldn't even reveal the true meaning of the name! If this was an attempt of hers to be secretive and confuse the population into thinking that she actually had depth, then it failed miserably. Two seconds later, she re-named it with her name (shocking!) and the rest goes into "Whatever happened to that fragrance?" history.

Eva Longoria somehow even came up with her own signature scent (although she's really "allergic" to most perfumes) promising that all women everywhere could wear hers (regardless of allergies). Serious side eye.

No matter what the gimmick, no one could beat out the sales or generate as much buzz as Beyonce did with her first fragrance, Heat. (She's got a second one called Heat Rush slated to make its debut by February 2011.)

Also, we can't forget about Mary J. Blige (who hooked up with Carol's Daughter) to launch her scent, My Life, which went on to sell the most bottles of fragrance in history on live television when she hit the HSN airwaves. (It made my 2010 to be there to witness all of this greatness!)

And yeah, Katy Perry launched a pretty delicious smelling one called Purr, but I'm looking forward to smelling what Lady Gaga is cooking up in the kitchen with Coty. (Although we may be waiting a while on it because rumor has it that it won't hit shelves until Spring 2012..sigh.)

#4. High tower hair! Some of it looked really good. Exhibit A: this picture of Janet Jackson from the Met Gala...

And some of it looked...well, um....kind of interesting (ahem Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys)

#3. Actress Emma Watson officially wrapped up filming the Harry Potter flicks and then cut off all of her hair! It could have very easily turned into a crazy moment (a-la that time Britney Spears shaved her head..yikes!) but instead turned out looking very GLAM indeed!

#2. I know, I know, I already mentioned her above (ahem, Kim Kardashian) but you can't talk about big beauty moments and not mention the Kardashian Clan. In one year alone, they managed to single-handedly dominate the beauty scene (Kim even presented at the CEW Beauty Awards!) and I used every single product. From the Kim Kardashian fragrance...

to the self-tanner....

yes, Glamazons, I did it all and can't wait to see what the Kardashian clan comes up with next! Rumor has it that they're working a complete "beauty line" but don't know whether that includes just cosmetics, skincare, hair or all of the above. (And no, I'm not a STAN...I just happen to really like their products, ok?!) I'm super interested in finding out exactly how much $$ these gals managed to rack in with all these beauty deals..hmmm.....

#1. Lady Gaga showed up at the 2010 MTV VMA's rocking a piece of red raw meat on her head that perfectly matched her red lipstick! While she definitely wins for the most interesting beauty looks of the year, this one takes the cake. I remember seeing it on TV and my jaw actually dropping hahaha.

Now that you know my most memorable beauty moments of the year, it's only fair for you to share yours below in the comments section!

GLAM OR SHAM?: Jennifer Lopez's Gold Lame Jumpsuit in Vegas

When trying on clothes, you can always count on this rule of thumb: if it looks bad on JLo, it's going to look horrible on the rest of us. Take this gold lame jumpsuit, for instance.

Even celebs with amazing gene pools and better doctors should be careful when it comes to jumpsuits (I hope I conveyed in my guide to jumpsuits post). If the proportions are off, you can look like you're in toddler pajamas. JLo goes wrong with pants that are too baggy and a top that is too tight by comparison.

Another reason this jumpsuit doesn't work? The lame gold material and zig-zag pattern. It's flashy, busy and too complicated for a head-to-toe printed look.

She was in Vegas though at the show Sinatra: Dance With Me (for Frank Sinatra's 95th birthday) so maybe the drama was an ode to Vegas' over-the-top glitz?

What do you think of her look? Glam or Sham?

Jennifer Lopez Nabs L'Oreal Spokesperson Deal

From designing children's clothing for Kohl's to modeling for Gucci ads to creating some of the top selling fragrances of our generation is there anything that Jennifer Lopez can't do?! (Oh, wait..there is: singing. But we won't talk about that...smh.)
Although the music industry may be one spot she just can't seem to dominate, you have to give it to her: she's definitely business-saavy. I mean, how else would one gain a L'Oreal spokesperson contract?! And not just any contract, mind you: a multimillion- dollar contract.
J. Lo (a name she ditched long ago but I still like to use tee hee hee) is the newest global brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris, which includes brands such as EverPure hair care, Preference hair color and Youth Code skin care. She joins the ranks of other celeb L'Oreal spokesmodels that include Beyonce, Eva Longoria Parker, Diane Keaton and Keri Washington.
Jennifer's debut TV ad will air Jan. 16, 2011 during the Golden Globes for EverSleek, a new range of hair products in the Ever franchise designed to smooth unruly, frizzy hair.
One of the new products from the L'Oreal EverSleek Line

According to an article in WWD, L'Oreal plans on tackling a new take on advertising by making their ads more "intimate and conversational."
Cyril Chapuy, global brand president for L'Oreal Paris, was quoted in the article as saying that the script for the new ads were written with J. Lo in mind.
"It was designed for Jennifer's personality," Cyril said. "She is the one speaking directly to the camera, there is no voice-over and she speaks in her own words."
He also went on to add that "the look of the styling and set was also defined especially for her..[which] had a very intense energy."
Hmmm...it could be that J.Lo had all these demands and the brand just rolled along with it. Or maybe I'm wrong and they really wanted to make the ads all about her? Either way, I can't wait to see them.
And this won't be the last we see of J.Lo anytime soon! She's been named one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2010" (interview airs at 10 p.m. EST, Dec. 9 on ABC) and has plans to launch a new album in 2011 called "Love."

Hey, you gotta respect this woman's hustle, right?! Who else is excited to see her new ads?

Ad Glam: Jennifer Lopez and Kids Star in Campaign for Gucci Children's Line

If you thought Jennifer Lopez would lose an ounce of sex appeal after becoming a mother, you are sadly mistaken.

The mother of twins Max and Emme (with husband Marc Anthony), JLo still rocks a photo shoot like no other, as you can see in her ad campaign for Gucci. Lopez gives the only Zoolander face, while holding and playing with her kids, who couldn't be more adorable and oblivious.

Shot in Malibu, California, by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the campaign advertises Gucci's children's line which will launch Spring 2011. The line for toddlers (0 to 2 years) and kids (2-8 years) will include rompers, tees, bibs, blankets, leather jackets, leggings and more. Cute!

To celebrate the launch, Gucci will donate one million dollars to UNICEF's "Schools for Africa."  Check out some pictures for the kids' line below:

While I adore the clothes and the ads (and am thrilled about the donation!), how much is too much to spend on clothes for toddlers and babies? As much as you love your little child (lord knows I adore my niece, Naomi), they're going to spit up on their clothes and grow out of them in five minutes anyway.

What do you think of the ads? And would you ever spend a ton of money on luxury children's clothes?

AD GLAM: Nike is the Latest Company to Push the Big Butt "Trend"

Who knew all along, when I was eating soul food and hitting the Stairmaster, that I was making a political statement by embracing my butt?

Well, according to Nike, a butt is a bold message to society, rather than a part of the female body that has been celebrated, if marginally, for years.

Their big butt campaign displays a woman of mixed ethnicity proudly showing off the extra fat around her butt next to a speech about the power of the derriere.

Take a look below:

Wow. I have to say, I always find it a little odd when 'body parts' or 'plus-size figures' become en vogue. When addressing a woman's body, I feel that a commitment to accepting all shapes (big butts and flat butts) is ideal. Maybe that's naive, wishful thinking on my part. But when the Jennifer Lopez-es, Beyonce's, Serena's and Kim Kardashian's are no longer popular, should we all go back to feeling too curvy again? There's danger in that.

I, for one, will love my butt even when Nike's moved on to a new body part. I did laugh at the comment about the space heater though, LOL.

What do you think of the ad? And the new big butt trend?

Coutura

Who's Fragrance Do You Think Will Be Hotter? Halle Berry or Jennifer Lopez?

They may both be extremely attractive Hollywood mom's, but that's just about where the similarities end.
According to today's issue of Women's Wear Daily, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez are both set to launch new fragrances soon! Here's the scoop:

'Reveal' by Halle Berry
Her third fragrance, Berry tells WWD that this fragrance will be more like an open book based on her experiences as a mom.
"I'm a mother now, and when you become a parent, you just look at the world differently," she said in an interview with WWD. "[Motherhood] challenges me and makes me question myself and who I really am all the time. So for this [fragrance and campaign] to come along at this time in life just seemed kind of like it goes together. This is a part of expressing who I really am - for the good and the bad, it's about being comfortable with myself as a woman, and sharing secret parts of myself."
Noting that she wanted to this fragrance to be "easy, floral and wearable," Berry even tells of going to the drug store and purchasing her previous fragrance because she loves it that much.
'Reveal' contains top notes of Berry's fave flower (mimosa), peach, honeydew, melon and red berries; a heart of plumeria flower, iris blossom and neroli petals and a base of vetiver, cashmere woods and skin musk. It comes in three sizes: 0.5 oz ($17); 1 oz ($35) and 1.7 oz ($35).
Even though the fragrance hits stores August 2010, she's currently working on a fourth fragrance and also revealed that she's set to travel to South Africa this month and July to film a movie and will start filming the comedy "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" this fall.

'Love and Glamour' by Jennifer Lopez
This will be Lopez's 16th fragrance (she's already sold more than $1 billion worth of fragrance!) so obviously this woman knows her stuff when it comes to creating a juice that sells.
The singer/actress told WWD that she sometimes drives the fragrance creators at Coty "a little bit crazy" when it comes to creating her fragrance.
"You always want to create something signature - that's always kind of what I'm pushing for when working with Coty," she told WWD. "You want it to be a combination that people have never smelled before. It's always an exciting time, because the sky's the limit and it can go in any direction. What I always like to do is look at where I am in life at the moment. [Here] it was right after the babies and was when I was getting back to work and getting back to what I do again. It just felt like a time of a lot of love and that seemed very romantic to me - I said it seems like love and glamour. As a name, 'Love and Glamour' seemed like a really aspirational, fun and beautiful thing that we could work with in many, many ways."
'Love and Glamour' contains top notes of Italian mandarin, guava and nectarine pulp; a heart of water lily, coconut orchid, orange flower absolute and jasmine petals, and a drydown of sandalwood, sensual musk and amber. It comes in two sizes: 1.7 oz ($49.50); 2.5 oz ($58) and a body lotion for $27.50. The fragrance will launch October 2010 at Macy's.
Lopez also told WWD that she may finally try her hand at creating a cosmetics or skin care line because it's "really important" to her. (I'm sure she'll come up with a smokey eye palette to die for!) Never one to slow down, she's making major moves with her apparel line, working on a new album and developing tree film projects. (Can we say "Super Mom?!")

So there you have it, Glamazons. Who do you think will have the better fragrance? (My vote is for Lopez's 'Love and Glamour' lol)

GLAM or SHAM?: Jennifer Lopez is Sizzling Hot in Three Roberto Cavalli Looks at the WMAs

Jennifer Lopez hasn't lost an ounce of the sizzling sex appeal that made her famous. In fact, post-marriage and babies, she's hotter than ever.

The siren turned heads at the WMA's in three gorgeous dresses by her designer friend, the great Roberto Cavalli.

Jennifer hit the red carpet in a plunging leopard print gown that left little to the imagination. To perform a medley of her hits, she wore another plunging fringed, sequined minidress. To accept the Legend for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts award, JLo opted for a tiger print one-shoulder gown with a beautiful feathered train.

Jennifer Lopez and Roberto Cavalli are great friends; JLo and Marc recently spent time on Cavalli's yacht in Nice. How fabulous!

Their friendship makes for some amazing red-carpet glamour.
The tiger print gown is my favorite, it is absolutely stunning! Though I LOVE that she pairs the leopard print gown with a snakeskin clutch; way to mix prints, Jenn.

What look on JLo did you love the most?

GET THE LOOK: Jennifer Lopez at the Met Costume Institute Gala

While I personally wasn't a fan of Jennifer Lopez's recent beehive bun updo, I'm a huge proponent for the hairstyle she rocked last night! These sexy, tousled tresses give me LIFE!
Created by hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon (i.e. one of my favorite places on earth!) he described the look as "coquettish, young and effortless." I call it hot.
Here's some tips he gave on you can create the look at home:

"Roller set her hair in red velcro rollers with volumizing spray making sure not to perfectly engulf her hair into them. Whichever strands were left out were not restricted to become set into the rollers. Fly-aways are a good thing in a modern day swept do. Once released, the hair is pulled back into a very unkempt twist, letting those free strands loose to become part of the modernity of the sweep. Pin into place. It was the complement to the whimsy of the gown to have a very free flowing and undone look to the hair. A slept in updo. Sexy yet determined. Barex, Volumizante spray as a prep and then a bit of Ellenette hair spray as a finish."

GLAM OR SHAM?: Jennifer Lopez And Her Massive Updo

I'm all for big hair. Being a native Texan, I'm always trying to figure out the easiest shortcut to achieving major volume and height. But this is just beyond me. I wonder if maybe Jennifer Lopez was having a bad hair day and couldn't think of anything else to do but to wrap her extensions up into this mess of a chignon? [Because you DO realize this is a weave, right?!] On a more positive note, that statement necklace she's wearing is beyond exquisite.

What do you think, Glamazons? GLAM or SHAM?

The Glamazons' Picks for Worst Dressed at the 2010 Oscars

While some celebs brought glitz and glam to the red carpet, others showed up looking a disastrous mess. There were several risks that just didn't pay off on the Oscars Red Carpet last night from Zoe's walking bathroom rug to Charlize's flower boobs. Here are just a few fashion faux pauxs that turned heads last night---in a bad way.

Zoe Saldana looked like a walking pinata. I wonder if Starbursts will fall out if we shake her dress. #Fail.

Miley Cyrus' ill-fitting corset top could easily be found at Forever 21. Not red carpet material, literally. #Fail

Charlize Theron's rosette breasts are just distracting and odd. And incidentally, they do nothing to enhance her figure. #Fail

I tried to defend it, but Ferocia is not a fan of Jennifer Lopez' Armani Prive wedding, I mean, Oscars gown. Yes, it's great to see she hasn't lost that curvy figure, but next time, don't drape it in bubble wrap and call that a dress. #Fail

I don't know whether to love or hate this Marchesa dress on Vera Farmiga. On one hand, the ruffles are striking and very avante garde. On the other, they're intense and attention-grabbing, just not for the right reasons.

Glamazons, who else should have made our list? Do you disagree with any of our Worst-Dressed picks? Discuss.

The Glamazons' Picks for Best-Dressed at the 2010 Oscars

The glitz! The glamour! The fashions!

We live for the Oscars red carpet each season as it's way more entertaining than the actual show. Sure, winning an Oscar for your screenplay or performance is the ultimate goal (my favorite moments were Kathyrn Bigelow's historic win for Best Director and Geoffrey Fletcher's win for Best Adapted Screenplay! Yay for amazingness behind-the-scenes).

But at the Glamazons, we feel Oscars should be handed out for the best fashions as well. Choosing the right dress, makeup, accessories and hair is no easy feat, and excellence in this regard should never go unnoticed. These five beauties below wowed us on the red carpet and totally deserve recognition. Check out our picks!

I swear Sandra Bullock knew she would win the award for Best Actress. How else can one explain this stunning, gold gown by Marchesa? The shimmery, form-fitting number hugged her curves (who knew she had such a great body?!) in the most beautiful, elegant way possible. Bullock topped it off with a sassy bright lip.

Gabourey Sidibe's brilliant blue Marchesa dress flattered her figure, and made her look more feminine than ever.

Rachel McAdams channeled Spring in an ethereal, watercolor print gown by Elie Saab. Stunning!

Finally, ruffles done right! Elizabeth Banks was a radiant beauty in a Versace gown in Fall's color du jour, gray. The soft, cascading ruffles offered a feminine touch to her structured bodice. A crystal headband and diamond studs provided the perfect accent.

Nicole Richie supported her man who DJ'ed the event, Joel Madden, in a metallic Reem Acra gown with an open back and dramatic train. I'm all for a fresh look on the Red Carpet, and Richie delivered just that by channeling 70's Hollywood glamour.

Who else should have made our list? Do you agree with our top picks for best-dressed? Discuss.

Kisses,

Coutura
